There are a$$holes who steal cars for profit/parts and a$$holes who steal them to go joy-riding. Any car/owner can be a victim.
On the other hand, I worked in Dearborn MI for two years. I always parked my car under the hotel awning (I was a frequent guest and security kept an eye on it - even moving their patrol car so I could park there) or where I could watch it from a restaurant window. Maybe I was overly cautious, but I never had a problem.
I agree with you. We must look out for CAR-JACKERS!
