Your absolutely right -

The only issue I saw with the stock SRT intake was the small diameter openings at the radiator support and the thin collapsing rubber Y-pipe at the throttle body - remedy this and you will have all the intake air your SRT can suck. K&N filters can't be a bad addition either.

I have an IAT gauge on my SRT (measuring the air temp after the intercooler) and I pulled the intake tubes off and drove around letting the airboxes suck in hot engine air - the air temp increased around 10deg F - this might be due to intercooler doing it's thing - I figured it would be a lot more - perhaps on a N/A Crossfire the readings would be different.

As far as the claim that your filters "cook" sitting above the engine is pure BS. With the SL55 setup - I can pull the tubes out of the airboxes and feel the filters with my fingers - they never get hot...
