Next time you fill up... fill it up and note the gallons it takes to fill it up.
Then plug into this formula
(how many miles you went) / (how many gallons you put in) = Miles per gallon
I have only had the car about a week and am getting 22 MPG... I have been driving it pretty hard though with the ac on almost all the time. Plus I have the auto which does not help too much. Either way 22mpg is better than the 13/14 I was getting before.

You will need to do this for a few weeks to get a reliable figure. You can also work out how much each mile cost you too at each fill up.
There are two cars here - my Crossfire and the Zafira, which is a small people carrier (it’s actually a Vauxhall Astra base with a people carrier body). We’ve worked out that both cars have about the same mileage, which is reassuring as the Crossfire looks like it drinks petrol. I also have a better feel for how long I can go between fill ups, and it’s not that different to my previous car, which was fairly anonymous hatchback.
It’s mostly driving style and road/weather conditions which determines whether you get less or more MPG than the manufacturer’s figures.
