If you want to hear some real BS, you wont belive this story. I am diabetic so I always carry spare needles in the car. My Jr. year of highschool me and a buddy of mine were out crusing in my mustang after a football game. It was around 11 PM and the speed limit is 65mph at night. I was doing 70 and noticed lights behind me. I stopped asap for them. It was two highway patrol. One immediately started grilling me on what we were doing. I gave them my liscense and registration, wasnt good enough. They asked us both out of the car. My friend has a speech impediment and they thought he was drunk. My friend gave the cops no reason at all for them to think that. They immediatly put him in cuffs and forced him into the ditch. They took me over to the patrol car. They searched me and asked to search my car. I said go ahead. They found the needles and over $300 dollars cash (it was payday). To them I was a drug addict going to buy some heroin.
Back then I used to paint ball alot. So I had plastic cylinder canisters in my trunk. They were secured in a belt you use in paint ball turnys (to relode your gun faster). I explained all this to them but I was accused of using them to store cocaine (seriously). The only thing (illegal) they found was a half pack of cigarettes (I was 17). I got ticketed for speeding and for having drug paraphanelia and got a long yelling at about how they were doing me a favor by not taking me to jail. I was sent on my way.
I was so pissed off, you cant even imagine. This was my first time ever dealing with police by the way. The next day I got a lawyer, took a drug test, got a letter from my diabetic doctor, and contested it in court. It was an easy win for me, only cost me $700. This was near the Somerville, Bosque county line.
That is an unbelievable story. With police officers in Texas they are either really nice or really A-holes. I lived in Dallas for years and had plenty of experiences with the cops. One time I was driving downtown following my boss to an event. Came up to an intersection where the stop light was out. Drove up next to a parked cop car and SLOWLY rolled through the intersection looking both ways to make sure nobody was coming. Next thing I know the cop pulls me over. He said I ran through a stop sign. I said I drove through a traffic light that wasn't working properly... I didn't see a stop sign. I look in my rear view mirror and there it was! A portable stop sign in the middle of the road. He was installing it and placing it in the road as I was passing through the intersection. I couldn't see it because it was on the other side of the cop car. The stop sign was short and the cop car was blocking my line of sight. He let me go but if he wrote me it would have been a cheap shot!
