This is a feature in the car's electronics that I was not aware of. The throttle is not connected manually to the carb, but is wireless. The car's computer will adjust the throttle response history to your driving habits. If you drive like an old lady, the response history will over time adjust the fuel/air mixture to accommodate that style. If you are a 'spirited' driver, the throttle response will adjust to that style. I am not smart enough to be more specific as to how the car's computer system does this, but it does. Weird.
To reset the response history back to a factory-fresh, full-bore, hair-trigger response, just do this:
TURN THE KEY TO 'ON'. PRESS THE GAS PEDAL DOWN. WAIT 5 SECONDS. TURN THE KEY OFF. LET THE PEDAL UP. WAIT 2 MINUTES.
START THE CAR AND DRIVE. IT'LL GO LIKE HEll.
The throttle response is now back 'zero' so to speak. Try it. You'll be amazed at the difference. I'm going to make a habit of resetting the throttle every week or so. And it's FREE. And I'm not CRAZY. Do a search for throttle response and you'll find some better explanations.
Regards.
