I-40W is closed at the 20 mile marker, but you get off 7 miles earlier at exit 27 before I-40 swings north towards Knoxville.

Or one could take I-26 south to I-40 and go west thru Waynesville on 23,441,74 to 28 and on up to Fontana . Come in from the south side. Stay out of Cherokee

Good roads all the way and very scenic.


I would think anything close to the rockslide would be impacted with heavy extra traffic.
