California motor vehicle code oddly does not have restrictions on "Tint"
Only on window covers and film. If glass is tinted as part of the manufacturing process (embedded or manufactured into glass) then your good to go.

But, if you can peel it off - better not have any on the windshield or the windows on the front doors. You can do anything you want behind the front doors.

As you can plainly see; I obey the California Motor Vehicle Code at all times.
