You and I seem to live in two different worlds. Of course I think that if you approached someone "keying" your car and told them to stop your words would have the desired effect! Most people, when caught committing a crime, will stop. If not, then you make enough noise to attract attention. At the very least, you would then have additional witnesses so it wouldn't be a "he said, she said" situation. I don't see how the situation could escalate unless you participated in the escalation.

You say that you saw her "keying" your car while you were in Blockbuster. Why didn't you say something to someone in the store?
