You are real familiar with my neck of the woods then. HWY 34 has a couple of great stretches on it where you can really stretch the cars legs a bit. And I do know what you mean about NC State Troopers.....we have a ton of them running up and down the county b/c of the beach traffic. Since the Governor put out the statement that they were really going to be cracking down on speeders this holiday season it looks like we grow state troopers around here as a winter crop. Every bush and field edge is full of em running radar - that is when they aren't just driving around running radar on people.
If you head up this way for the holidays shoot me an email.

Actually, I'm originally from Va. Beach. Mom is currently in southern
Chesapeak. But, I've spent an awful lot of time in your neck of the woods.
We used to love running down hwy 168 into NC, and then tearing up the
back roads from Moyock down through Currituck, and finally hitting 34 to
run over to US 17 to head back North. Usually cut off that somewhere and
head east back towards 168.
I spent a lot of time hunting dear in those swamps as well. Have some
good stories about hanging with the cousins down around Knotts Island
during deer season.
