Redneck solution below:

Carefully take a rasp (fine tooth) and gently file the sharp edge down. You may even need a razor knife to knock down the high points.

After I made it smooth, I cut a thin strip of clear plastic tape and sealed the back edge so it can't continue to peel.

It's subtle enough that my wife couldn't feel it on her handle... So, that works for me. The driver's side is still smooth.
