It is not bent, it's straight and the screws that hold it in place hold the door panel on as well.

Maybe you could screw it on from the front and hold the door panel as well. If the screw head went through the first tube wall and tightened against the second tube wall and a plug filled the first hole it may look so so but may be acceptable to some like that. A spacer over the screw behind the tube would be best to mimic the OEM set up and prevent over tightening.

Personally I'd sand and maybe cover the rough spots. My passenger side is just sanded smooth.
