It sounds like its going into limp mode Justin, the computer is detecting a problem and putting the car into 'get you home' mode.

It probably needs to go on the diagnostics gear to find the fault, but there may be a way of reading the codes yourself, someone on here might know how to get the car to show the fault codes via flashing lights on the dash for example.
