That would be the fuel pump relay, it most likely disengages because the PTCM detects that the engine did not start, therefore the fuel pump is no longer needed. But I could be wrong, just seems logical.
Have you tried spraying all the relay contacts with electronic contact cleaner, in particular the engine control relay ?
