I was trying to think of a nicer way to put it, but yeah, that about sums it up. LOL.

I'm 6'2" and I would never think about taking that off my door, it takes away the function and style of the door panel big time.

I found it comfortable to put my left foot just to the right of the "dead pedal", next too/behind the brake pedal.
I can fully extend my leg and my foot doesn't even get in the way of pressing the brake pedal as far as it can go.
