Replaced the DS HVAC Air Vent & Light Switch Bezel with a new one from eBay Seller. New bezel still has that "sticky-like" feel to the surface. (Note: Our 2006 VW New Beetle had the same "sticky-like" feel to various interior parts. Same era as Crossfire.) Manufacturing process back then did a really lousy job when it came to producing a quality product. I've taken my old bezel and started prepping it for a restoration effort I'm working on.

I changed the SC oil, I drained it very well and replaced it with a little less than120 cc (4 fl.oz)
I also changed the belt and the SC idler pulley.
The hardest part was removing the scatter shield, The clamp on the oil hose to the oil cooler had to be raised off the hose to squeeze through the gap.
Next up is the 8 way passenger seat mod and a replacement for the ABS module to see if that cures the low pedal. I read that a stuck valve in the module causes a low brake pedal.🤞

That is more SC oil than me onehundred. I only pulled out 90ml. I forgot to jack-up the rear of the vehicle to assist with oil removal, as discussed in other posts.

My car is literally "up in the air" for the last 2 days. I resealed the breather covers and installed all new breather hoses, then decided since I had to let sealant cure for 48hrs I might as well install the new front AKEBONO brake pads that have sat on my workbench for an embarrassingly long time. That's done. Today I was going to try out my positive-pressure brake-bleeder and change out ALL the "I don't know how old it is" fluid... but I totally lazed-out and didn't touch the car at all. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.

I found that speed bleeders were cheaper from motorcycle parts suppliers.

Picked up my XF from Pacific Coast Custom Interiors in Santa Rosa CA. Ryan and Adam did an amazing job, top quality and craftsmanship! Here is the website: https://autocustominteriors.com/, phone #707.799.2995. They's done about 1/2 dozen headliner replacements for XFs including one SRT6 before mine. Given that the headliner was out of the car, i took advantage of adding some sound insulation/heat to the bare metal interior. Also, took advantage on got the car wired with a new Dash Cam (selected VIOFO 4K A129 Pro Dual Dash Cam). Car looks great now, no more sagging and quieter too. If you're in the bay area, PCCI is your shop!

1. Where i started... if you recall, i posted a "failed" updated with my attempt to steam the sagging portion. Did not work!

2. During... as many of the enthusiast on this forum suggested, removing, scrapping, and install brand new headline is the only way to go. Pictures of the dash cam and new insulation.

3. Completed... looks great, quieter, and now have dash cam to record all XF outings. If you're in the bay area, check out the shop is used. Outstanding job!

I've been a somewhat busy boy in the last week or thereabouts. I've completed the following tasks:

1) Resealed the breather-covers and installed all new breather hoses (rubber doesn't last forever; especially inside the engine-bay!). The 'MercedesSource' guy says when a Merc hits 25 years old the failure of every rubber component is imminent.
2) Installed AKEBONO front brake pads and cleaned & lubed the sliding bits.
3) Changed the motor oil.
4) Did a 100% brake-fluid flush and bled the brakes.

Will document with pictures on the thread below once I go through the photos and select ones that aren't blurry!!! Unlike a paid mechanic, when I take anything apart I clean & service/detail every component I put back on.

Not so much what did I do to my Crossfire as what did I buy for my crossfire
I have an earlier version of the scatter shield without the ring stabilizer bracket. I reached out Chris (LM21) and I was lucky enough to acquire 2 of the last few remaining brackets Late Model 21 will not be making anymore scatter shields but more importantly, in chatting with Chris, BEYOND WHAT HE HAS ON HAND, THERE WILL BE NO MORE PADDLE SHIFTER KITS

For any new Forum member, if you want to step up the fun and control, get a set of paddle shifters before they become clear marker lights, turn signal mirrors or Crossfire OEM illuminated door sills. Gone forever unless you open your wallet for a set that a member has but never installed.

Any forum member whose been looking for those items know me exactly what I’m taking about.

Moderate skill level and a degree of confidence are required. Super fun and an interesting project

Wanted to share this with others where it would get the most exposure. While searching the internet this morning, I came across an article about a drive-up coffee firm closing their 2 locations in KC North. Wife & I try to keep up with the goings on in KC North as we both grew up there. Anyway, a picture was attached to highlight the business and wouldn't you know, a Crossfire Coupe is at the drive-up window! How about that!

Now for the normal business at hand. Took some time yesterday to do a routine engine bay visual PM. Inspected the fan belt for any signs of stress cracks from either wear or age, which would tell me to get it changed in the near future (most likely would change the idler pulley at same time). Removed the airbox and looked over the crankcase breather covers & valve covers for any signs of oil leakage. Checked brake fluid & power steering fluid levels. While the airbox was off, I checked the air filter elements to see if they needed changing. Everything passed with flying colors. I have an oil change due this spring & will execute it before traveling to Eureka Springs for the Crossfire Ozark Mtns GTG in June. While perform the oil change, I'll look over the transmission underbelly & look for the pesky oil leak at the sensor (no visible signs on the floor under the Crossfire but leak could be miniscule & give an early warning signal of failure).

~ Washed and clay-barred the SSB/SRT, vacuumed, blackened the black rubbers. Found the dash CEL,ABS,and BAS/ESP lights on. As mysteriously as those lights came on they are all now off after I spun the wheels and did the steering wheel reset routine. Part of the Grin Factor.of Xfire ownership I presume.

When all else fails, you've done your due diligence yet inexplicably some feature of your laptop has ceased to function, rebooting it is usually the surefire solution!!!
