Last WOODY mod for the summer - Fall 20 second fix
I must have had hot flashes in a previous life, probably explains my *****-e-ness also.
Ok you want the engine to last and run cooler, well here is your best simple bet and you do not need to have a magic decoder ring to figure it out. The rubber gasket by the windshield just under the hood, slips off without any effort, and can be replaced just as easily. The gasket prevents engine heat from escaping, trapping it under the hood. Just pulling off the gasket and saving it allows the cars motion and fan to push hot air out allowing lower under hood temperatures and faster cooling. Try it , youll like it, it is so easy to improve the cooling in this manner that youll wonder why its not been revealed sooner. Please look at the attached photos in my album to see the effects as shown with my thermal camera. CrossfireForum.org - waldig's Album: Easy cooling mod for the crossfire, 20 second modification ! Yeah, it took me two years to figure it out but since I don't track the car and seldom go WOT, I put mine back on.

What is the gasket supposed to do normally?

Stickers are from ebay. Gasket keeps hot air in, prevents fresh air intake from getting engine heat in summer. I dont use ac without using recycled air in summer so I dont need it. Enjoy, WOODY

I did this 7 years ago, took a 100 mile drive, and spent an hour cleaning the engine bay! But the underhood temps were lower... |

I think it also serves to keep any atomized engine oil from coating the windshield.
( Not that it matters that much here in Alabama, you'll get 10 times the engine oil on your windshield from following a pulpwood truck on our windey double yellow line roads ) |
