Default Filters?

The hood prop on the SRT gave out so I went hunting a replacement. Best price I found was at AutohausAZ. They had Stabilus for $64.80 and that left me $10.00 away from free shipping. Oil changes for both cars coming up soon so I searched for Mann oil filters. Seems they carry Hengst filters not Mann, the description said they were to Mercedes specs and only $7.99 each so I ordered two. Anybody know much about this brand?

Edit: They are fleece and look just like a Mann. Here is link with a photo. [url]http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-C240-C300-C32-AMG-Hengst-Engine-Oil-Filter-000-180-26-09-HE-/111851452052

I get it and so will many others but some will not. I know a oicture is worth a thousand words but a few words here would not be wasted.
I will then add it to the Index ......

Actually I didn't intend for the hood prop to be the subject of the thread. I was asking if anyone was familiar with the quality of the Hengst oil filters.

I guess not but you did make the filter a minor part if your thread, that post by Mr M is the first time that I can recall this being mentioned here and as such deserves placement in the Index of blah blah blah ......
You can buy three of his cylinders for the price of your one and the money you save buying just one will buy three or four name brand filters if you look around.

I think I left plenty of room on the page for anyone else to comment on filters.. I could be wrong though.

180 .. you know "exactly" what was done there.. Please feel free to post accordingly to the "Cheap fix" data base..

Tried but just couldn't find one for 5 bucks.. LOL

JSK - Since no one responded to your Hengst query, I doubt any forum members have used them. You're OK with the fleece version as Hengst is an established global filtration company headquartered in Germany, and a quick Google search shows no negative reviews. Apparently their filters are OEM for VW, Audi, etc...

Also, AutohausAZ does carry Mann filters for just under $10. Use 2003 MB SLK320 as your search vehicle, and you'll find a lot more parts.

See below link and use the Hengst with no worries.

Whatever brand you go for you should only use fleece filters. They are the ones for extended service and are worth the extra cost even if you do not opt for the extra mileage between oil changes.
