Default HVAC Control unit

I asked this somewhere in Tech and Toubleshooting, but it seems there's no action there.

I need an HVAC control unit. One seller on eBay has some, but he insists they are for an automatic trans car only - will not work with a manual trans car.

Looking at the parts catalog, I only see one part number for this. I can't fathom there would be any difference based on the trans. Right?

Have you seen the repair by CL770 ?, i would try that before buying a new one .
or just give it a smack ,that can work ...for awhile anyway.

Yeah ... I took it apart and did the repair. It kind of worked. I even took it back apart and spread the pins out a bit to get a better connection, but it still only works right when it feels like it. It seems this one is too far gone. I figure I'll buy a used one and do the repair on it before I install it just to be safe.

There are literally pages of them on car-part.com, starting around $65 without shipping.
