What's That Tickin Sound?
What's That Tickin Sound?
I have a shallow knock coming from the engine of my 2004 Crossfire. While listening with a screwdriver, I located a spot where I can not only hear it loudly, but can actually feel the knock through the screwdriver handle. The knock is loudest at the base of the device shown in the attached picture. It is located on the rear of the engine, near the top on the passenger side.
Can someone tell me what this device is and why it is knocking?

Re: What's That Tickin Sound?
That is the EGR valve ( Exhaust Gas Recirculation ).
Why it is thumping/knocking beats me. Never heard that one before.
It takes a portion of the exhaust gas and introduces it into the combustion chamber to be burned, this lowers the intake temperature helping to resist knock and also lowering emissions by burning unburned hydrocarbons.
