How is this possible? (New keys, no fob)

I didn't think it was possible to simply "make keys", and, without a fob, go driving around. What am I missing???

This seller says he recently bought this car from long-term storage, made new keys (apparently the originals were lost), and now the car starts, runs, and drives "reliably", but you have to use the key to open the door because he has no fobs. Great price on a nice car, though!

The only way I know of is if the prior owner removed the rfid chip from the original FOB and attached it to the innition ring. Then all you would need is a key to operate it. For about $700.00 you could order a new FOB from needswings.

I was amused that he reasoned that the noise from the trunk, when going over a bump, could be a "loose spare". :)

So you found a Craigs'list ad that reads a bit suspicious? Is this the first time you've suspected something 'wrong' with a CL ad? :)

Lol. I surmised that what Zeracer posted was the only way after I posed the question. However, the ad's pic of the ignition switch...it looks normal, I think?

A couple ads that were funny recently: "key fob not working, just needs batteries." And by a dealer: "We rotated the tires." :D

Hi Guys,

This might work for me.
So I have a spare cut eBay key and it starts the car when I have the original good key in the car.
RFID might have to find a new home in dash.
I do have an extra circuit board and wonder is there is a way to program it to the central locking?
