Default Lights Blink but no unlock

Recently I have been having intermittent problems getting my FOBs to unlock my 05 Roadster. The lights will always blink for the unlock and lock button but the doors and trunk refuse to unlock. After a minute or so of numerous attempts it may eventually work or I resort to using the key but even that may not unlock the remainder. Even pushing the console button when this is occurring does nothing. Then out of the blue it all starts behaving normally again usually within a few minutes and may continue that way for a month before reappearing. If anyone has had a similar issue, Id be interested in your thoughts or a solution.

Your join date is just before I joined - you've owned the car a LONG time! (Im on my 3rd Roadster over 12 years.)

This is clearly a pump problem. The preferred fix is to grab a pump from a wrecked or 'parts' car.
The pump for coupes and roadsters is the same, before you even ask, including SRT6s. There is no programming needed, as all the car-specific brains for this are in the SKREEM.

The labor involved is not hard at all. The challenge is finding a suitable donor car.
If finding a pump is a problem, I can put the word out for you on our Facebook pages and link sellers to this thread.

Also, since finding a pump might take time and you might have water in there, check the lower hatch area below the foam inserts. If water is in there you have to get it out. If that pump wiring gets wet it'll 'wick' up the wire harness slowly ruining it. If the wiring is wet and corroded get a harness with the pump you get.

Thank you everyone for your insight. I purchased it a week after I retired in July 2008 with still 10 months of factory warranty on it. I have found this forum very valuable over the years. Like many others I have discovered numerous things will go wrong but can be repaired at home with much less expense and a little time thanks to all the good folks here.

So I see a number of these previously owned locking pumps on Ebay anywhere from $75 to $250. I have used Ebay since 1999 but not for used car parts... what's your feeling on that? I kind of feel like I am chasing my tail buying 15 year old car parts and praying they last. I have been close before to just fix it and sell it but have not been able to bring myself to part with it yet.

Also I will attempt to check the original tomorrow for any possible water damage. I understand it is in my Roadster's trunk area on the fueling side? However I am in my trunk regularly and have not noticed any moisture issues (except for the time when the seals on the deck lid cylinder blew and had a bit of hydraulic fluid to wipe up after a send out for a rebuild).

You won't see any sign of moisture intrusion anywhere. It can leak down from the spoiler and into the trunk wells without being seen. Instead of tearing the whole trunk apart to get to the wells, go under the car with a screwdriver and pop the innermost plugs out of the right and left trunk wells. You'll find the plugged holes under there and they may be a bit covered with the factory sprayed-on undercoating but you'll see them. If a pile of water comes draining out of the right well I think you'll have identified the problem. Maybe draining all that water out will fix it for a while. Here's the plug you want push up and pop out with a screwdriver (where it says "new drain hole"). You aren't gonna damage anything on either side as there's nothing vital above those 2 plugs. Same plug on the other side from underneath as they are mirror images of each other. I popped mine out, water drained out each side, and just left them up in the wells but I caught it before it caused serious problems. Someday I'll fix the source of it but not today. Heck, maybe never.

hey how are you guys doing? I'm kinda new here but I have a related question. Since my doors trunk and gas cap all lock and unlock just fine using lock buttons in car, the pump is good right? But when I use the key fob it does nothing but blink the lights. That's not the pump is it? Or is there actually a part on the pump that controls that? Just wondering your thoughts, I Googled my question and found your answer. Thanks.
