Do all crossfires have rear speakers?
I installed a new stereo today in a 2005 roadster and there isnt any sound from the rear. There wasnt any sound from the rear with the old radio too.
I havent "looked" back there for speakers yet but I did try to run my arm back there while sitting in the seat and didnt find anything. I knew about the subwoofer style design from reading other threads in the past but Im beginning to wonder if all crossfires had rear speakers?

I found a post from 2008 that says my 2005 roadster shouldnt have rear speakers. Next fun question if that is the case does it have a 4 channel amp? As in does it have a place to hook up speakers to on the amp if I want to add them?
Ok I couldnt stand not knowing so I went and looked and yep my 2005 roadster has rear speakers. Now I just need to figure out why they are silent.
I think my 2005 roadster is a limited. It has subs in the back as I went and looked and made sure. Just not sure why there isnt any sound coming from them.
more than likely the foam around the cone has disintegrated. There are kits available to replace the foam. Some have installed new speakers but they require some amount of modification to fit back into the Crossfire mounting space. Check out the audio thread for more info. There is also a modification of an added capacitor in the door panel that gives the subs behind the seats more deep base.
Its aftermarket. I used the metra adapter that has the rca jacks. The radio that was in it was an alpine using an adapter also. No factory wires are modded on the plug.
If your using the stock amplifier, it send only the bass frequencies to the rear subs turn the bass EQ settings all the way up and you should be able to hear the rear subs work if the speaker cones are still good. If they're not, here's a link to re-cone them

there are videos on youtube for a re-cone

Im almost done installing the backup camera and when I get done I'll see about using a voltmeter to see if there is anything signal wise going to the speakers. As I mentioned I can see them but they dont seem to be making any noise. I'll also make sure Im sending bass to them and at a decent volume level for testing.
It's easier to replace the foam ring (suspension) than to find compatible speakers that fit without modifying the mounting basket . Thanks JSK for clearing my post up , just use to saying re-cone
Yup... Most all seem to have have subs behind the seats. If I were shopping for a used XF and the rear stock subs behind the seats were blown that would tell me a little more about who owned it previously.
The base and se didn't have rear subs. the foam rings on the sub speaker cones disintegrate with age not much you can do about it just replace the foam rings with new
