Default Radio display brightness

Quick question. Should the brightness of the radio display change when they headlights are turned on/off?

My display as fine at night, but barely bright enough to see during the day. In my previous cars, Turning off the headlights makes the radio brighter, but not so in my Crossfire.

Thanks,
Josh

No, I think the display should stay the same.
I think there was a TSB on this - do a search.
I think the end result was a new unit.

Thanks, I found the info on the TSB. I didn't realize it was a widespread problem or I would have searched in the first place.

I'm guessing that even though there was a TSB, since my car is out of warranty, that I'm out of luck as far as getting it replaced for free?

I believe this was a problem in the early 2004's later xfires went with a different screen.

Check ebay you can find the radios for the xfire pretty cheap.

If you still have the old style radio (light letters on dark background) it should be a no-cost swap-out for you regardless of whether you're in warranty or not. Contact you dealer and ask them.
