Default APS Mesh Grille installed today!

First off I want to thank Keith for making this happen. The grill arrived this afternoon and I went into panic mode. The box had a big hole / ripe in the center, the good news is due to the great packing there was no damage. It took me about 1.5 hours to install the grill. The upper grill needed some tweaking. I installed it as is and the alignment was bad. The lower center was much higher than lower corners. The upper portion was off a lot to the point it stuck out so far in the front middle that the hood would not shut if you used the upper grill mounting holes. First off I highly suggest you put some type of protection on the paint to keep from scratching your paint. The grill has very sharp edges. I used duct tape and it worked well. The lower portion of the grill slides into two of the lower mounting slots. To correct the problem with the lower center being to high I adjusted the tabs on the lower part of the grill and ended up slightly removing some of the curve on the lower portion. It worked great, the space along the bottom is pretty much consistent now. On the upper portion I found that the grill alignment was much better with the new grill support under the grill mounting bracket. Again I very carefully adjusted the angle of the grill to get the proper fit. When I had it adjusted to my liking I drilled two new holes in the upper mounting area to line-up with the new grill support hole. I not sure if you will have this problem but my box was in pretty bad shape and the grill could have gotten slightly bent.
Now for the real test, I called my wife out to take a look and give me her opinion and her reaction was it looked GREAT! she says it gives the car a much wider looking stance from the front and it looks 100% better then the CTD chrome grill. I would also like to say this grill is made excellent, very heavy and top quality material. If fact I installed a $500.00 mesh grill on my caddy and the mesh on this one is better. I know you want pictures but unfortunately we are having a snow storm as I speak. We already have 6+ inches and expecting another 6 inches tonight. As soon as the weather clears I'll take pictures. If your looking to change the look of your front end I highly recommend this mod. and Kieth thanks again.

Frank,

I am sorry to hear about the fit issues. I can only assume FedEx bent it up a bit in "really, really getting it there." I had no issues on the intstall other than the lower middle. It did straighten out some when I put the black plastic pins through the lower mounting holes. My upper grille took less than 3 min. to uninstall and reinstall.

BTW my name is Karl not Kieth, but I don't really care just don't call me "late for dinner!" LOL

Glad you like it, but very unhappy about the condition it arrived. I checked each grille and added packing material. The instructions and parts for the lower grilles are totally mine. The ones from the factory make no sense and the parts just don't work.

KARL- Sorry about the name mix-up. Old age is catching up with me. The lower grill was easy to figure out, thanks for the instructions. One other note you sent me a extra set of hardware for the lower grill pm me if you need it back.

Does the extra set have the plastic push pins? Or is it exactly the same as the one you used to mount the lower grilles?

I am hoping it is the original set. If not, one of the other guys may have gotten shorted. If so, I am sure we will find out quickly. If that is the case, perhaps you can send the kit directly to them....

No push pins or screws, just nuts and spacers.

I too got my grill Thursday, and finally installed it today. The packaging was fine, but I still had slight issues with the fitment, in order to get the hood to close.. I don't know if maybe the brackets are getting bent slightly, although the packing is top notch.
Anyway now it's in and it sure makes a difference to the front end, got to say, it looks like a quality piece. I will be showing it off at the Houston meet this weekend'
Thanks again Karl !!

I don't know how to post pictures so I e-mailed them to FP to post. I asked him to post them when he gets time.

Frank, your car turned out beautiful. Nice job putting it on.
Need to clean those wheel wells though.

FP- Thanks, sorry about the wheel wells but it was very muddy when I moved it from my crossfire garage to the main one. I plan on power washing it before leaving for N.C. if it would every stop snowing!

I'm on vacation in Key West , Florida.
Have not seen a single Crossfire.

I have seen a hundred of those damn Sebring convertibles.
They have the same grill too and it is so annoying
