Default aero turbine muffler?

i got really stupid after going to the drag strip last weekend and hacked my muffler off. thinking at the time i would find a small straight through glass pack muffler to go in its place. i couldn't find anything local so in the end ran a straight pipe to a dual tip. idk if anybody has wondered what it sounds like or if you make more power, but for me it sound sweet between 1800-3000, and crap everywhere else. seems like i lost power too! it could be the added noise levels throwing my perception off though. any ways after thinking i think i want to steer away from a $27 glass pack and i've been looking at aero turbine mufflers. any thoughts on these? if i get one this weekend i'll be sure to post some sound clips. i'm thinking about the 2525 model w/no resonator. i'll add one if i still am too loud or raspy. local shop wants $200 installed, and best ebay i've seen was $115 shipped, but i doubt they are a vendor that'll have warrenty claims.

no responces to this thread, but i did get it on last night. i'm a believer at this point. sounds wonderful, and the best part was my car seems more peppy. i got better responce on small throttle changes, and it feels like it pulls just a tad more. i have to fill up to see if i get the increased fuel mileage that some users report. i'll get a vid up soon so everyone can hear it.

the muffler was a bit long for the stock location, so i don't have a tip on there yet since they didn't have anything that wouldn't stick out a mile. i'll do some searching, and may end up having to make something.

Lol it sounds like a ricers dream;

Aero Performance Exhaust is the world leader in performance exhaust airflow technology. The company spent over three years in Research and Design to develop the new Aero Performance Exhaust Muffler technology.
When the incoming exhaust air stream enters the Aero Performance Exhaust it is rapidly expanded and split via an airfoil cone with an orifice similar to a jet engine. The outer air stream accelerates as it recombines with the inner air stream. The recombining of the air streams muffles the exhaust sound and increases the exhaust flow. Thus allowing your engine to breathe easier and dramatically increases your vehicles performance.
You may have picked up 1whp using this muffler but as long as it sounds good to you that is all that is important.

hey, thanks for jumping in and being negative once again. this is an engineered design used in nascar, and dirt oval racing. the favorite exhaust around here seems to be magnaflow glass packs which i'm sure didn't go through as much r&d.

I wasn't being negative, just pointing out the gains will be zero to 1whp most likely. To gain any power you would need to get at least a catback exhaust. I did get a big kick out of the "jet turbine" gimmick they use to describe the muffler. I was simply stating that ricers tend to fall for the gimmicks and think by changing their muffler they pick up "mad power yo!". I was not calling YOU a ricer, stop being so sensitive.

Glad you like your jet muffler, post up some sound clips.

In all seriousness, If you look in my gallery you'll see what I had welded up for me. I was a magnaflow glass pack with dual tips. It sounded awful and I lost a good amount of my bottom end torque. Since then I had the Edelbrock SDT 55768 muffler welded on and it is increddible. It's a bit on the loud side but the power is great. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like it.

the shop held up every muffler they had to my car before the install. everything from cherry bomb to ebay ricer specials, to flowmaster. the aero sounded best to me, but i pretty much had my mind set when i got there. the flowmaster race muffler was closest to the sound of the aero, but the aero didn't leave any gurgle or popping when you let off the throttle and the flowmaster had a little bit. my cousin listened to it when i got back home and he noticed the air blowing sound hidden in the exhaust note that made me really like it. he described it as a turbo sound, but i hate that term and i'm sure i'll get some good snake oil/ricer comments now that i've posted it. anyway i like it, i have better throttle responce and my car feels like it pulls better through the rpm range. i'm going to fill up and see how it effected my fuel economy.

it sounds neat! im glad you enjoy it. some people can go through 3 or 4 mufflers before they find one they really like.

wow that was nice of the shop to do that, most of them will not go the extra mile to make customers happy.

i've heard most shops around here will do that. i wouldn't say they made the customer happy since i paid for a complete new rear section with the install, and when i got home and looked at it they just cut and welded a 6" peice in there to make it fit. i'll take pictures and send to meineke along with my invoice to show them how that shop operates. whats really bad is i had a quote from another shop for $81 cheaper installing the way this one was done, but i figured a bigger name and new pipe was worth the extra money.

At least around here menikie has a reputation for ripping people off. they have been on the local news a few times for cheating people.

just letting everyone know i got a video, but i have computer problems. my daughter dropped my laptop and killed the end of the cord that plugs into it. the battery is dead so its down and my desktop is old and doesn't have the right input for my camcorder. i'll find a solution, even if i have to use my neighbors.

Sounds pretty good, but I'd see if I could get a better tip... that thing (to me) looks down right fruggly...

Just my opinion... take it or leave it...

Doesn't really sound like a turbine to me.
That tip looks tiny and odd IMO.
