cda-9886m vs ida-x100m
I was looking at the alpine cda-9886m and the ida-x100m
I like the x100m i think, but i wish I could see some better pictures of the head unit in our cars. Patpur, i looked at your gallery, but it's kinda hard to see the head unit in the pictures since you were taking pics of your center console.
But the 9886m has a cd player... not that i use cd's very often, and it's also a LOT less expensive, considering the deals ive been able to find
which do you all prefer?
I have another question. Does anybody know if the ipod connections on these work with the iphone? or will i have to still use my ipod touch, like i currently have to with my iTrip

pioneer cda-9886m
Isn't this an Alpine?

I'm having trouble finding that big a difference in price. The one really low seller says backorder. I like the iDA.

oops i meant alpine
ya well normally they are about 100 bucks different, but i found a website where i can get the ida for 230 or the cda for 220... now i'm sort of leaning towards the ida if I can get it for that cheap
any reports for functionality with iphone? technically both SHOULD work, but I was wondering if anybody had any personal experience with either set with an iphone

I have the cheaper alpine installed i can check the owners manual to see if it says it will work with the iphone (which gen). I like it. its a good radio. 9886m. I like the ida 100 better but was unable to buy one except online and i absolultly wont buy it until i could see what it would look like in the car. the 9886m looks good. There are some things that I am not satisfied with though. I shouldnt have to buy a hd radio tuner. I think that should come standard on a 350. unit. Pisses me off not to see what artist is playing on the radio. Also I have to pay 150 for the bluetooth. but i think it would be the same on either one that you buy. I think you replied on my thread about the install so i am assuming you saw the pictures, and saw what paint i used for the bezel.
Either way though i think they put out about the same sound which is a step up from the stock system.

I have the X-001 in my car which looks pretty much the same as the one you are talking about. Check out my gallery for the pics. I also put in a black carbon fiber dash kit which ties in the Alpine which had a dark trim ring.
I'll try and post a close up this evening for you. Sorry I didn't read the first post.

I hate to complain, because I really appreciate you taking the new pics, but those are still kind of dark. Sorry. Anyhow, just to ask -- is the silver pretty much a match for the Xfire interior? Assuming that it is. Assume that the button lights sort of work okay, too. This is the unit I want, but I'm hoping the red lights kind of blend in with the other red lights on the dash, the needles and the four-way button.
Sorry I just saw your question Xfirecrazy - No its not a doggy bed its actually my door ding parking lot protector. It stows in the passenger foot well. I use it when I drive my car to work. Lots of old people going to doctors appointments and they are not always kind with their doors. Someone mentioned your question to me yesterday, had to chuckle. We do have three small dogs and they do have beds that look like that but they don't get anywhere near my car!

Look in his picture gallery theres a picture in there.
I just put in the Alpine iDA-X305 and it's awesome. I don't really care for the color match though I admit it does look amazing so this looks great for me.
Sounds amazing and looks really nice. All speakers are still factory and sound really good, except for a noice in the passenger side panel I can't find!!!

well i ordered my ida-x100m saturday from ebay for $300 (free shipping), just came in today
I need to run to wal mart and get the thing so i can pop out my old radio and install the new one. color matches perfectly!
i'll post pics when it's installed
Question: if i wanted the ipod cable (which runs out of the back of the unit) to go to my glove box... how would I do that?
p.s. what wiring harness will I need to get, if any? Sorry, I've never done this before...

Drill a hole in your glove box, upper right hand corner, that's how mine is.
Yours is the MArine version? And the trim ring is dash color and not white? just curious. If you ordered from Crutchfield they should have sent the radio removal tool. Not sure about the harness, Crutchfield included that as well.

didn't buy it from crutchfield-ebay was $100 cheaper. Just got the little tool to remove the old radio, and now I have to go buy the adapter/harness/whatever it's called thing. They told me to go to best buy
Pat, would you mind posting a pic of where you drilled the hole? I'd hate to drill the wrong spot... I was thinking the left corner, the corner further back in the glove box on the left side (the left is kinda funky) since it's closer to the radio. Would this be ok or is there something there?
aha ok. I'll try putting the hole there
now, I just got back from going to wal mart and best buy. finally I got sent to car toys, and the had the adapter thing i needed... but now I need help wiring it up. I'll take a picture of what I have if someone wouldn't mind walking me through it...
edit: pic's are on second page of posts
