I think mice are giving me a headache
Well it appears mice had a party going on in my garage over the Winter. As it turns out my wife stored the food from our rabbit that died last Fall. She was going to donate it to a shelter, but never did get around to it.
So they got into my engine compartment and I think did some wire eating. My car is acting odd. I think I've sorted through some of the issues, but I cant seem to get rid of the coolant warning light. It's not low on coolant.
Today the temp was almost 90, and I noticed my car started to heat up. I caught it before it overheated, but the needle was above the middle line. Something I've never seen my car do. I turned off the AC, and the needle went back to normal. Then, my engine light came on, and my AC seems to go cold and not so coldm my Honelink stopped wrking today as well.
I have to take it to the dealer, and hope they don't tell me my warranty wont cover it if they find mice damage.

I hope they can straighten everything out for ya inexpensively.
The dealer only charged me about $700 to diagnose the problem, and I had an excellent technician.
Good Luck
I had a rodent problem several winters ago, and my car was a daily driver. It (?) ate completely thru a wiring harness. Fortuneatly it still ran so I took it to a dealer for repair.
Car warranty did not cover it but I had it repaired under my Home Owner's policy, paid deductible. Bill was just under $2,000.00. I now keep winter and summer, a Q tip dipped in Peppermint oil. Not the cooking extract, but the oil from a health food store.
Knock wood- no more problems on either car, but I do check more frequently and leave the garage light on all night.

My 6 car garage has mouse food pellets in every bay to kill the little suckers. They eat it , get thirsty and go outside to find water where they die. Cheap insurance for sure. Woody
Sorry to say FP, but the critter damage is not covered under warranty, it will be customer pay $$$ I had my cars ABS harness destroyed by critters (15 wires all total) ended up repairing them myself, it took a little time but all has been good for over a couple of years now, and yes I would try my home owners ins also to see if it was covered under your terms.

Just don't mention the rabbit food-foreseeable result, they'll say!
OMG, FP, the rabbit died???? Congratulations on the pending addition to your family!!!!! Just kidding of course. I also wondered if your car insurance comprehensive might take care of that. Where would the coverage come from the HO policy. Just curious as to what section would apply to loss of property.
Golly Gee .... you now have a VW Bug, and you had a VW Rabbit that died? LOL
Sorry to hear about your situation ...... hope you get it straightened out soon, so you can enjoy the car.
Oh .... BTW .... Get rid of that rabbit food, and replace it with moth ***** ..... spread them around the garage perimeter ..... it will stink for a bit, but should help with prevention.

Sorry to hear about the uninvited guests.
They seem to always go to my wifes car, a Pontiac Vibe? I don't know why.
Last spring upon turning on the SRT's air conditioning "Oh ma God" what is that smell?
I found a dried up mouse in the interior air filter. Thank goodness it was filtered or they would have been inside like in my wife's Vibe.
If your concerned about it happening again put those prebaited sticky pads near all four tires. You'll get the little Bastages.
Good luck,
Mike
PS Please no comments on spelling, Bastages is a "Johnny Dangerously" reference. ha ha ha

Sure do wish somebody would have mentioned the "comprehensive insurance" angle to me whene I had my (quite public) 2 month episode waiting to get my car back 3 years ago.
I even have zero deductible.

Remember it for the future, or for your neighbors.
