Does the head unit play MP3 CD's ?
I am still new to this board, so please forgive me if this questions has been answered over and over. I am buying an 05 limited with the factory sound system with navigation and would like to know if the head unit plays MP3 CD's. Because it's a 05 I figure the technology is 'old' and doesn't play anything but audio CD's, but thought I would ask because from what I understand the head unit uses some kind of CD to utilize the navigation feature. Thank you. I love this message board and can't wait to get my car. It will be a 2005 Red Limited Roadster, Stick, 2K miles. I should be picking it up in the next 21 days.

Re: Does the head unit play MP3 CD's ?
WELCOME.
No MP3s Nav is on CD and must temporarily be placed in the player during route programing -then the audio cd can be replaced. |
Re: Does the head unit play MP3 CD's ?
The unit will play MP3 CD's.....but you will have to remove the CD and insert the NAV CD, after your destination is set you can then remove the NAV CD and reinsert your MP3 music CD.

How well does the navigation work, how easy is it to use ?

Re: Does the head unit play MP3 CD's ?
That is two contradictory posts. One says it will play MP3 CD's and one says it won't. Which is correct? Possibly to clarify the OP's question would help. Will it play MP3's from a data CD, meaining compressed MP3 files. If the head unit can play compressed MP3 then you could put about 180 compressed MP3 songs on one data CD and play form the head unit. If you can't then you can burn MP3's onto a CD and play them on the head unit for sure, but the OP should be assuming that you can do this.
