Default Looking for Ideas for Custom Mount on Glove Box

I have a pretty busy set-up going on in my Crossfire:

I bought an extra glove box with the thought of customizing it to house all this stuff. That means adding some sort of panel that houses the radar remote, subwoofer control, and that big touch-screen panel.

I was thinking of angling the stuff toward the driver but not too much.

And in the process I would still like to be able to open the glove box...

Suggestions, warnings, epiphanies?

You apparently have a coupe, I've a roadster - consider suspending the gear from the roof or windshield frame ??

BTW, what are those two *****/buttons flanking the stick? How 'bout the key-bezel(?) point of the hand brake lever?

Regards.

The left switch enables the use of menu options on the Vehicle Dynamics Processor; the right switch manually activates the rear view camera. The camera comes on when the car is in reverse but I wanted to be able switch it on at other times...

The item near the handbrake covers a hole from a previous install - it's the emblem from the center of a wheel center cap.

I considered and disregarded an overhead install. Not enough head room for this stuff - it's fairly large given the low clearance in the coupe.

I think it would look great modify the glovebox and cover it in fiberglass and really have a nice finish on it, and once you get everything in the way you would like and have the FG all sanded down, cover it in the same leather as your interior (possibly even 2 tone it??). Just thinking out loud.

Also, it appears that the plastic the glovebox is made of is pretty thick, depending on how thick the items you would to install are, you may be able to install them flush mount (maybe with a little angle towards driver on it) and still have a normally functioning glovebox that looks damn near stock on the inside. Again, just thinking out loud.

Don't think I offered any help, but maybe a few suggestions??? LOL

Actually you did get me thinking.

I was thinking of using the face of the glove box but after reading what you wrote, I might look at cutting out the openings and then angle the displays toward the driver, with part of the unit inside the glove box on the left, and nearly flush on the right. That would also shade the screens. I could run an external GPS antenna if it has a bad effect on the GPS.

As far as the glove box, I never use it - it has my manuals in there but aside from that, it is empty. I think that would still fit if I did what I described above.

Something about the day job, wife and kids...

It took two months to get the AVG-VDP1 laid out and installed (with only about 1/2 hour time on the car once I had the plans and supplies all in hand).

Also the spare glove box is somewhere between Texas and here.

Today I "get" to take delivery and install four new appliances for the house...

Where does the time go!

Man do I hear that...

I am only 25 with a girlfriend and no kids and I have trouble trying to get everything done as well my friend. Today I am trying to apply all my vinyl overlays to all the lenses and apply Andrew's awesome decals. Tomorrow, get the 20s put on get alligned. Sunday, install new components, amp, and capacitors. I can afford to have these priorities, unfortunately it sounds like you are not in the same boat. It never quits, but I love it. Will I see you at the dragon?

Sometimes I get a free minute. Check my web site - it's all documented. I have managed to get a fair number of things done on the cars. But for today is was the kitchen and laundry

(wiping brow)

The delivery guys came around 11:00 AM. I already had the washer, dryer, fridge, and dishwasher removed and except for the fridge, out of the house.
I just now finished installing the dishwasher after a trip to Lowes for the kit for the dishwasher. All the rest of the stuff was pretty much plug and play.
