Ohm's question.

Quick question, since im replacing my infinity amp with a kenwood 1800w amp, do I still need into install the 2ohm aftermarket speakers? or wont the ohms matter with the replacements?

Re: Ohm's question.

I can't answer your question, but I would think that should be found in the installation/owners manual of the amp. Proper ohms are important to protect the life of the speakers and amp.

I know we have some audio buffs here, maybe someone can help you out with this information I found:

Re: Ohm's question.

It looks to me as though that will run one (1) subwoofer, large. There will be no amplification of the door speakers or the OEM subs behind the seats.

;) Its right there, 900 watts at 2 ohm's. Careful at driving it any more though, you'll overheat and burn it out unless it has a protection circuit. I would not hook up anything less than 2 ohms. And, only one speaker per side (900W x 2 = 1800W total) it seems! ;)

Re: Ohm's question.

Are you adding a subwoofer or considering replacing the OEM multichannel full frequency amp with a single channel bass frequency amp?

Per side of what??

It's a Mono amp?

Re: Ohm's question.

As others have said, that is a class D Mono subwoofer amp capable of only low frequency response, and will not be able to run your interior speakers.

With an amp like that you can bridge multiple voice coils together on single or multiple subs and lower your ohm load to achieve more power, but this usually results in frying the amp, unless it is a stout piece of equipment and rated to be bridged down. I used to have an amp that was 2400W of CLEAN power at 1/2 ohm, fully stable. Oh back to the days when I cared not about hearing later in life :D

 Check the .pdf, right side in the 'connection' section (just before the middle of the document set). Wiring diag shows a L and R sub outputs. I tried to take a snapshot but I have the free version of adobe, couldn't do it.

Re: Ohm's question.

Gotcha-dual outputs AND/or bridging the speakers (if properly selected) for impedance matching. Cool. But, isn't this gross overkill if using just about any 6.5: SW? Even 2?

Re: Ohm's question.

It's a MONO amp. The two outputs are bridged internally and will provide the same outputs.

This is NOT a suitable amp for replacing the OEM. It is for low frequencies only <200hz (cycles per second) Audio range is 20 to 20k (20,000)

This is correct. Unless the OP wants this to run a pair of subs only-at 900 watts, and use the headunit to run the door speakers with ~ 15 watts?

Oh, yeah-that'll make the girls look on in admiration...
