Stereo hasn't worked in over a year...help
September, 2011 we got a big storm, Irene. My car took on water some how and flooded the passenger side footwell and destroyed the amp. They replaced the amp and it worked intermittently for a little while before just shutting off. I replaced the headunit thinking it might be that and got sound for about 5 seconds.
I went into the footwell and jiggled all the wires thinking it might have just been something loose since it was intermittently working but I still have nothing. Any thoughts on what to check? It's the non-gps Inifinity system. Should I try just replacing the amp? What I'm reading though makes it look like the amp does a lot more than just the sound. I just want sound again, I don't care about high end stuff stock worked fine for me. What do you recommend I replace it with? And yes, I know I should have just taken it back to the shop when the initial stuff started happening but I didn't because I had a ton of other stuff going on it at the time. Help a brother out. |

You can drive the door speakers fine with just about ANY after market head unit, it's those durn subs behind the seat that you need the amp for. I you aren't into rattling the body work, then a good choice might be to replace the 2 subs with regular speakers, install a good $100 after market head unit and wire it all up manually bypassing the amp. You will then have left/right & front/rear fader control. ( hint: look at the marine units on crutchfield or sonic, they come in silver that matches pretty closely ) This one is $143 and it has integrated Blue Tooth : http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...rion-M502.html |

Lied...I fiddled and it worked for about 2 minutes and only the front speakers. I used Crutchfield's supplied harness adapter and it seems to have a lot more wires running into it than out of it.
The replacement headunit is an Alpine CDE-137BT if that matters/helps. I'm extremely frustrated at this moment and just want a car that works like it's supposed to. |

I'm trying to avoid running wires and pulling interior stuff. I'd like something plug and play.

OK.
Why don't you list your location in your profile, maybe another close-by member will volunteer to help ..... ( sure sounds like an amp issue to me ..... ) |

Sound Ordnance M-4050 4-channel car amplifier 50 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com would work? And I'm in the Glen Burnie, MD area. Learning more about car audio than I ever wanted...I just like it to play music lol. Thanks for the replies.
