MP3 player on stock audio unit very easy without changing the radio!

Do you want connect an MP3 player on your stock radio? You don’t need to install an other expansive radio.

I have seen on the SLK forum in Germany a perfect tool that you connect with the stock head unit. On that tool you can connect your MP3 Player with the ear phone connection. The tool you connect on the stock car radio antenna. The MP3 Player gives out the music on the ear phone connection then it came into the tool and the tool gives it into your car antenna (like the XM commander). Now you search on the FM frequency band on your stock radio if you hear the MP3 then safe it on one of your radio buttons. That is all. You can connect all audio units that have an ear phone output.

Here is a link for the installation of that tool. The instruction is in German but the pictures say all.

Edit After translating to english, it looks like it is an FM Modulator of some sorts. It might work with our standard radios. Steffen, fo you know of anyone with a Crossfire that has used this?

I bought a FM modulator from Crutchfield and connected to the stock head unit in my Crossfire, it works fine

so it looks that the problem is that the amp is turn on/off by turning on/off the head unit. What you can do is to wire the remote turn on amp with ignition. So everytime the car is on, the amp is on. Then either radio or ipod, does not really matter.

Yup, that would do it, as long as you don't get that anoying amp pop. Although, even if that happened I've seen timers that can correct that problem too.

I just don't like it because it bypasses the head unit so you have to control the volume with the device. But hey it would do the trick.
