62 years old and still get tingly thinking bout it
I have the supreme honor of taking my car to an auto show this weekend where everyone will be a winner - guaranteed!!
I will not be taking the crossfire cause it is not that exciting looking or sounding, so the 1973 big block challenger is doing it. Its been cleaned, buffed, polished the stainless trim like never before, rebuilt the three carbs, added AN series fuel line and filter to keep it clean, cleaned the glass and checked the tires.
This will be my highest high of the year and Iam pumped about being able to go. The crossfire is my toy and dream streeter, but the show audience will love the cam, dual exhaust and sound of it all. You know that the C has been my engineering focus with a few more great mods in testing and it is not being slighted but I can only get one car in the show and it will have to wait for the next one. After all its the pup age wise and needs to give the senior its shot at wowing the crowd.
Odd you say, well the crowd is the deal here and its why Iam so UP with cleaning and tuning and such. So what is the deal that keeps the C at home ( on sunday its got another autocross event anyway ).
On Saturday I will be one of my mercedes clubs members that will be showing our cars at Walter Reed Medical center. Taaaaa Freeking Daaaaa. Or HOOO Raaahhh!
Were doing a car show for the Wounder Warriors there and are given the opportunity to give back a little respect to the guys that have their boots on the line. Like I said I get all tingley thinking about it.
Ill report the results of the show and how it all goes, but it is one heck of an honor to me to give back. Had to dig out my Second Armor Division stuff so I could wear it to the show. Its been a while since I enlisted in the ARMY, like 42 years...
Just wanted to share the event, photos to follow for you that are interested. Living near the Capitol has its benefits now and then, enjoy W

Sounds like a great event. Good luck Woody and thanks for doing this for the troops. I am around your age and served as well.
Did not know about the show and will see if I can swing by.
Regards,
Jake80

Woody,
Sounds like you will have a great weekend planned.
And you are correct. A big block Chrysler with a cam and six ducks. Oh the sound of it.
Enjoy!

Sorry I misinterpreted the title, I thought you could only think about it. I was going to suggest a little pill.

The photo in the above post was taken at Summit Racing in 2004, and it was the last car show I attended with my AMX. I think that was the last time I drove it too. It's been parked ever since the Crossfire showed up (along with all my other toys).
If I had the opportunity to take it to Walter Reed, it would be a real privilege to take it out of hibernation for Americas finest.
I'm sure they'll get a kick out of your grape Challenger Woody. Lookin forward to the photos.
