Default Greatest "car" Show on Earth

Well, now that the Barrett Jackson auction is in full swing, is everybody having a good time watching those "High Rollers" throw their money away, on cars alot of us either enjoyed or destroyed in our youth?

...I heard that Corvette #3 will be auctioned off. Corvettes 1 & 2 were scrapped, so this is the earliest surviving Corvette (and probably has its share of components, trim, and features that disappeared or were changed when production ramped up). I will bet it sells for quite a wad of cash.

Sadly, I will just miss the auction. I fly to Phoenix on 01/29 and will be there for the better part of a week.

HDDP, I know what you mean, In '68 I bought a '69 Mustang Mach I, back then you could "special order a paint color. I ordered it in Presidential Blue, Very Dark Blue and a Ford color not normally offered on the '69 Mustang. When it came in it had the haker hood scoop and didn't have the mach 1 stripes on it. The Dealer really liked the care so he offered to sell me a Left Over '68 Shelby GT500 for the same price. Which was around $3,100. Great deal I thought, until I checked on insurance, $1,200 a year, as I was under 25. Couldn't afford the insurance and the car payment too so I passed on the deal and kept the '69. No way I would still have the car but it would be nice to say I owned one of those super cars.

That darn GM bus has been sitting on a side street in North Hollywood/ Van Nuys CA for more than 3 years. I thought it was a modified "PICTURE CAR" from one of the movies. Heck, had I known it was so valuable, I would have stolen it... LOL

#3 may be one of the earliest production vettes, but the EX122 is the oldest vette... http://www.kerbeck.com/kerbeck/kerbe...ldest_Corvette

just useless info.

Aero Blue, I fully agree with you on the "Woody" being the Greatest Car Show on Earth, I just needed a "catchy" title for this thread, and that's what came to me. Just a moment of brain fade on my part.
This year will be my 10th. Woodward cruise. Wouldn't miss it.
Thanks for setting me straight.

I've been to every WDC since the first one in 95', but back then I had my 87' GN to take to it which made it alot more fun seeing that car has such a mystique about it. Now when I see one I think "what a dumb as* I was!" Oh well, I'll just wait till I get alot more money and get one when I'm older like the baby boomers have done with their 60's muscle cars!
