Default 2006 SRT Nationals

I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of a big event coming this year. The 2006 SRT Nationals will be held July 19-22 at Heartland Park Raceway. www.srtnationals.org The event will have something for everyone. It will feature the SRT lineup from SRT-4's to SRT-10 Competition Coupes and everything in between, including the SRT-6. Although the event will feature the SRT's every Mopar vehicle is invited to attend. So bring out your Crossfire Coupes and Verts.

Activities include a road course high performance driving event with professional instructors, drag racing, judged car show with classes specifically for the Crossfire, audio competition, burnout competitions, and much more. There will also be a large Vendor Midway with sponsors like Kicker Audio who has a tricked out Crossfire, Mopar, SRT Division, among others. We are adding more sponsors every week so keep checking back for updates.

To attend you need to pre-register at the website. We hope to see lots of Crossfires there. You don't want to miss this chance to get together with other Crossfires and the rest of the DCX SRT family. If you have any questions or would like more information visit the website or send me a pm and I'll try and get you answers. Also keep an eye out for ours ads in the Chrysler Magazine as well as your invitations in the mail.

The event registration bag freebies are piling up. The value is worth more than the cost registration. Hats, T-shirts, magazines, stickers, Meguiar's products, free guest passes for the first 200 registered cars (hurry we are almost there) and much more we can't announce yet. Don't miss out on these great gifts. You won't believe your eyes when you open these bags.

I doubt you would want to drive anything but yours. It looks great. Get that thing out to the Nats so everyone can see what you can do. The cameras look great too. We are having a DVD put together from everyone's in car and event footage. Looks like you have some serious video skills we could use.

Man I wish we would have the support needed to pull off something like that. I will pass it up the chain to see what they think. This is more grass roots DVD, basically pool everyone's footage and have it edited and mixed for about an hours worth of final cut. We would love to have any input or footage that you could provide. We will have a DVD page up on the Nationals website shortly for people to contact the producers for submitting footage and such.

HDDP... what's scary is, you haven't even... entered the prime of your career yet!!! Hats off to you!!! Your achievements and extra-curricular efforts with the XF, CHRYSLER... really shouldn't look any further than you and your XF to host this feature...

By the way... since the cat is officially outta the bag (with me) with what you do (i tend to avoid the WHAT in a person and tend to over focus on the WHO in the person) do you know of a Jerry Sherlock/Exec Prod/The Hunt for Red October/ founder of The New York Film Academy???

thanks

We are proud to announce a new video trailer that we will soon have hosted on the Nationals website . CSCVidz, who will be producing the Nationals DVD this year, has put together a short trailer. This trailer will help us get those of you who are only stimulated visually, you know who you are, excited about the 2006 SRT Nationals.

So if you would like a sneak peek of a few of the great activities you can participate in during the Nationals, take a look at the trailer. This will show you just a fraction of the great things you can do at the Nationals, as well as just a quick peek at what is in store for this year's DVD. CSCVidz will soon be posting the details of their requirements for footage to be donated by anyone attending the event and who gets good video clips. They will use as much of this donated footage as possible using the best videos for the DVD.

Let us know what you think. A special thanks to fflores and CSCVidz for getting this done so quickly.

We are down to 8 slots for the road course. If you plan on going and want to join us on the track sign up very soon. I got to drive an SRT6 on track at LRP earlier this month. What a great car. In fact it may be my next track car.

Default Another World Challenge Team joins us at the Nats

3R Racing (3rracing.com) will be joining us at the SRT Nationals!

3R Racing is bringing two transporters, since like the other WC teams, they will be stopping by between World Challenge races, for your enjoyment in the Pro Paddock.

Out of those transporters will roll the Viper Competition Coupe and two SRT-4R Challenge cars that they are developing. They will be testing all of the cars Wednesday on the roadcourse with the other W.C. teams, and joining us on the track on Thursday.

Driver Rob Holland will be on-hand, and several other pro drivers are expected to join him.

Personally, I continue to be amazed at the level of participation, not only from the Pro teams, but from the participants as well. This makes about 10 confirmed real road race cars that you will have access to in the paddock, and the Drag Race teams are starting to sign in as well. We'll have 10 second privateer teams (regular people like us on the forums) and a bunch of sub 10 second cars representing the professional ranks. What's important to realize is that the pro teams are there because they want to be, not because some big sponsor said they have to be there. They are paying us to be there, helping us pay the rent on the track. Be prepared to take advantage of them and their generosity. If you want to know something about car setup, ask them. If you want to know what you need to do to bring your racing program to the next level, ask them. If you want a job, you'll probably never be in a better position to introduce yourself, and ask for one.

See you in Topeka!

As seen in the SRT Edge newsletter.
Ready for some rip-roaring racing action? Then you need to check out the SRT Nationals, July 19-22, 2006, at Heartland Park Topeka, in Topeka, KS.
Dale Seeley, organizer of the event, explained the philosophy behind this celebration of the SRT lineup. "The SRT Nationals is a grassroots event with something to offer the whole family. And the SRT Nationals has everything a performance car enthusiast could hope for. It's been organized by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, with just enough corporate sponsorship to allow us to offer a first-rate schedule at a first-rate facility. There will be eight hours of road course driving with instructors available. This is the same track that NASCAR uses, and it is the new home of the SCCA road racing championships. There will be more than 20 hours of drag racing on the brand-new NHRA dragstrip, featuring several formats including testing, brackets, quick-8 exhibitions and a night under the lights." Seeley added that everything isn't about speed at the SRT Nationals. "You'll also be graded on style," he said. "We'll have 20 hours of car show judging and, with the attendance expected, we'll need every hour."
You can find out how good your audio install really is, with Sound Pressure Level and Real Time Analysis measurements, from Kicker. For those that believe that style, performance, and destruction can co-exist in one competition, the burnout contest should be one for the ages.
Seeley made another important point. "The SRT Nationals will be a family-friendly event," he said. "This means that we plan to provide access to an on-site kids' corral under a tent, with swap coolers and one of those jumping things that the kids love. Families will want to stay up-to-date through the web site with activities and options provided for making their participation easier."
In addition to all of the track and car show activities, numerous sponsors and vendors will be present to provide you their latest products and services. There will also be a huge raffle with prizes worth thousands of dollars.
All Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, and Jeep vehicles are encouraged to attend and participate in all of the activities.
Register now for this grassroots extravaganza! To sign up or for more information visit: www.srtnationals.org

In-Car video rental at Nationals This isn't on the website yet... but should be later today...

Please visit http://www.myhotlap.com for information, pricing as at the bottom of this post.

How would you like to have an in car camera that is in your car for the SRT Nationals? It is now available…

www.myhotlap.com and Lux Performance LLC are proud to offer you a recording of your on track experiences. This is the same unit device the NayKid Racing Viper Team cars use.

What is it?
• Portable dual camera picture in picture high quality digital audio/video solution for recording participants in car drive experiences at any one of the 2006 SRT Nationals on track events. Drag strip, Autocross Course, or Road Course.
• We do all the work. We install both cameras and all recording equipment for you in a very small protected package that will not interfere with you or your car. There are no modifications to your car that need to be performed to take advantage of this opportunity. It takes only minutes to install the system in your vehicle.
How does it work?
• We place 2 very small bullet style cameras and the needed recording device in your vehicle. One camera is aimed out the front window giving you the viewpoint of the driver showing the steering wheel, gear shifter and windshield. The second camera is aimed at the driver so that you can see what the driver is doing the entire way around the course.
• Both cameras run through a device that overlays one camera over the other in a small box in the lower right hand corner of the screen, so that on playback you see both camera viewpoints on one television screen.
How do I get my race tape?
• You will be able to download your tape from the www.myhotlap.com site within 3 days of the event, and will stay up on the site for a total of 10 days after the event.
• Your tape will be password protected so that only your or those you choose may see the video.
• Transferring the video to DVD is available for an additional fee.
Where are the cameras placed?
• Drag Strip - Camera 1 = Inside the car facing out through the windshield. Camera 2 – Inside the car facing the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle.
• Autocross Course - Camera 1 = Outside the car on the fender behind the front tire roughly 18” off the ground. Camera 2 = Inside the car facing the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle.
• Road Course - Camera 1 = Inside the car facing out through the windshield. Camera 2 – Inside the car facing the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle.
Which event can I get an in car camera?
• Each of the 3 events will have a separate sign up. And each is priced differently. Since in car camera’s are limited for each event, it is strongly recommended to make reservations to guarantee your camera. A $100 deposit is required to reserve a camera. This deposit is fully refundable 14 days prior to the event. Anything less than this, the deposit will be non-refundable forfeited. Once all the cameras have been reserved, we will begin a waiting list for each event.
How much does it cost?
• Drag Strip - $35.00 for 2 runs.
• Autocross Course - $35.00 for 2 runs.
• Road Course - $150 for AM sessions (roughly 45 min), $175.00 for PM Sessions (roughly 60 min), or $300.00 for both sessions.

How do I sign up?
• Go to www.myhotlap.com to sign up.

What else do I need to know?
• 12V Cigarette lighter is required.
• Camera availability is limited and is on a first come first serve.

Questions?
Email - shedrick88@yahoo.com

Less than two weeks to go. Make sure you get the cars shined up and ready for the big show. See you there.

Default SRT6 on road course

Greg

After doing the track experience and driving all the SRT line-up, the Crossfire was my favorite on the road course. The shorter wheelbase, lighter weight and ready TQ made it the quickest in and out of the corners.

All the cars were fun to drive, but the CF wins hands down on the road course. The Jeep was BRUTAL on the drag strip launch, even in the rain.

Can't wait to see the lap time/competition develop between the different models.

See you in Topeka
DB

DB,

The Crossfire was great wasn't it. Very well balanced and fun to toss around. Now if some one would just get the SRT6 engine to mate up with the regular Crossfire Standard Tranny then it would be the best of both worlds.

Just for clarification during the long course track event no timing or "racing" is allowed. Of course you'll still be able to tell who is passing who. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the SRT models out on the track at the same time. What better way to compare the different cars and trucks. Now the AutoX of course will be timed, and I think a well prepped CF would take all the others easily. I just wish more were showing up. See you there.
