NOT MINE - Nice clean 38k mile Black SRT6 Coupe in GA

This looks like a nice one . . .

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-Crossfire-Srt-6-/151687736732?vxp=mtr
Seller had it sold previously at $13,600 but the high bidder did not pay up. Someone should try to make a deal on this one . . .

I which I could buy them all!

I'm brand new on the forum, but I've been wanting a crossfire since I was 14. I'm interested in buying this one, my only concern is on the Auto Check report on ebay, it lists a odometer reading of 31,600 in 2009, and a reading of 1000 miles less than that 4 years later, with a note that the reading wasn't included in the odometer check. Should I be concerned about a rollback on that?

Re: NOT MINE - Nice clean 38k mile Black SRT6 Coupe in GA

There are a couple of discrepancies in the reported mileages on that AutoCheck report. Note these entries:

https://www.autocheck.com/members/re...img/accept.gif 12,601 09/08/2007
https://www.autocheck.com/members/re...img/accept.gif 20,996 10/01/2007

So in less than a month someone put 8,395 miles on the car? I don't think so . . .

If you're really interested in the car I would get a CarFax report and see what it shows . . .

CarFAX report notes:

02/14/2012 Research Note Clone Alert: VIN was fraudulently copied
and used on another vehicle.
CARFAX suspects the records collected
in CA and UT belong to the cloned vehicle
while the original vehicle remains in FL.

I'll definitely get a CarFax report on it if I decide this is the one.

Should the clone VIN make me apprehensive about buying the car? I definitely don't want anything like that to cause me issues later on, maybe getting higher insurance rates for wrecks I never had in states I never lived in or something like that.

I honestly just don't have an answer for that question. This situation is obviously pretty rare, it doesn't affect this particular vehicle or it's condition. It might be a bargaining tool to buy the car at a better price. If you like this SRT6 and intend to have it for a while, I would still buy it. You'll receive a proper title and with the CarFax report kept in your file you'll have an explanation for the discrepancies in the gathered data showing on AutoCheck and CarFax about that VIN number.

:( Walk maybe RUN from this car. There is a reason they 'flag' the car. Do you really want to own something that might be a HUGE problem for you? Scrubbing VIN's and odometer discrepancies are shady and many times (if not all the time) illegal. Buyer beware! :(

Nice thing about a Florida car is that you can check the title issue date and status online.

EBay seems to have improved their system. It took me a bit more time to get my TVR relisted. Fortunately, my third bidder down was a real one and came through for me though I will never know what it could have brought in a real auction.

Good luck to the seller.
