Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
damn, that price, I would definitely check into getting engine built, bored and get a little more displacement and would even have $$$ left over for the insane prices for cams.
Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
These motors arent that expensive, there are a bunch on EBay going from 1 to 2k with and without the blower.
If it was me and mine blew up, I honestly think I'd do a m113 conversion and put a v8 in it at that point.
Mine needs a new blower (leaking from snout behind the black part) and a balancer. Age/ high mileage things. Ive basically parked the car for now.

Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
I ha e seen on a charger forum, someone found a stroker crank and has been running.
dodge needs aluminum blocks for the hemi, instead of the cast iron.
or the ls platform, alot of supoort, cheap, and is a all aluminum flat plane v8, mate up a tr6060 or t56.
if you can get over the idea of a chevy engine.

Good usable low mileage V8 AMG nearly costs more than full rebuilt 3.2. Then you gotta keep buying parts to complete install. Adding 200# to the front of a nose heavy car is counterproductive. Unless 1/4 mile is your poison.
At that rate, just buy an SL55, bolt on go fast parts and enjoy! To each their own. V8 SRT would be fun, OTOH.
Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
you would think the v8/200# as you say would make a big difference ,,it doesn't ,,as the slk/crossfire was overbuilt so, you should drive a v8 crossfire . as mine has been on the tail of the dragon, every Oct. for the last few years,in fact last year a Porsche could not stay with me. if u went with a super charged v8 you would NEVER go back jim

I was just figuring, based on past experiences with different cars, of all people you should know. Maybe I should drive your V8 Crossfire and pass on true information......... that sounds more exciting!
Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
your not out of turn, ,, r u going to the tail of the dragon,, if yes ,Maybe just Maybe you could take a short drive in my v8 i will have two V8's at the dragon this year. One for sale. jim
Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
I cannot make it as I am booked for the year:-(
I hope to have the new engine in soon, I'll wish for a break in my schedule. I appreciate the "possibility" of piloting one of your SRT6+2's!

Re: Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor
Most all of them have 80,000-121,000+ miles. Very few with actual advertised mileage after verification.

I would not want a sl55 to much electronic crap to fail. One of the key things I like about the srt-6 is the fact that it is a simple car without all the unnecessary MB crap. Meaning no ABC for suspension, no air ride stuff that WILL fail and cost an arm and a leg to replace.

Problem with the 2004-2010 SLK (R171) is all bling and no substance. While requiring Merc diagnostics to do anything.
Not speaking idly, had a '06 SLK350 for a while but a SLK320 and a Crossfire coupe now (coupe is more rigid and lighter than SLK).
R170 is pretty much the last the DIY people can play with.
No secret that I like a six in many ways, has enough power for the street and do not care for "compromise" cars, have real American muscle, 400 cid & Muncie when needful.
That said Chrysler has had to do many things to keep the Hemi alive, should have been retired years ago except they keep managing to sell enough for silly money. Halo cars they are called.
Problem is that it is an antiquated, 2 valve, cam in block design that has been kluged to make a lot of HP e.g. the engine requires the AC to cool the charge at max power. 100 octane gas is needed for a 4" bore and 3.5" stroke.
Personally prefer a DOHC 6 with 4 valve heads and VVT i&e like the Pentastar. As for electronics, it was available with both Merc 6-speed and automagic in the Wrangler. M276 is nearly the same engine with
the plus of direct injection but suspect a junked Wrangler is easier to find.
Also my tow car has a Pentastar and is the best one I've had, I like to standardize on drivetrains.

I believe it may be your propensity for dropping words in sentences and over utilizing acronyms that may be a problem for some.
