Default Feeling interest for SRT6 with shot motor

Hello, im weighing my options at the moment, and curious to see if anyone is interesting in buying a srt6 that will need a new motor.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...t-bastard.html

About 63k miles on the car, new clear front bra, new front grille, new hid fog and low headlights.

Blew a piston under wot. Supercharger and non internals on the engine are fine.

Just a piston and cylinder?

I would bore through the alusil coating to the steel sleeves and run pistons from a ford 4.6 3 vavle, many piston options.
I got ahold of a bad piston from a srt and took measurements and compared to measurements several pistons, and on paper will work and give some options for changing compression up or down, and can use total seal rings, 95% of engines run rings on steel cylinders.

A option to think of, and will give a scosch bigger engine displacement.

Lol I think that's a bit more risk then I'm ready for.

Hard to really know what all happened till engine gets broke down.
And it is not like rebuilding a chevy v8.

What price are you thinking?

Sure when I ask, I get nothing, am shows up he gets a awanser lol

Have you tired a bore scope and look at the pistons and cylinders?
Can get on amazon for $10 and plugs into your phone.
And pull a spark plug and slide in the camera, and see damage, or could be surprised and cylinders might be ok, and just need a piston.
The just drop the oil pan and pull the head and hand turn crank to right position and pull that piston and rod out, do a better inspect and if everything else good, just change the piston and put back together. And do not have to pull the motor, normal motor could do a light hone in the car.
Might get lucky with the cylinder coatings and cylinders be fine.

sorry my bad man, I was on my phone and didn't scroll down correctly :/

Yeah we got a few pictures from a boroscope, the engine is toast.

I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a new engine. I think my net loss will be similar in both scenarios, but at least this way I get to keep a working car with a one year engine warranty.

Thanks tho man

There is or was, haven't check lately, but I believe a'04 SRT motor for sale in Tampa. Seems to me it was pretty low mileage and reasonable around $2500. Check Ebay.

make sure he is getting an SRT long block and not just a 320, they are different.

How'd it turn out? I just joined the "destination fuct" club. It was #6 for me after my first WOT in manual mode. 4th gear random misfire/limpdick. Cleared codes and ran like new, drove around and rat-a-tat-tat rattle action.

Plug gap zeroed out via shrapnel from piston. Have not disassembled yet.

Where did your mechanica sour e the engine from?!

Plug gap zeroed out via shrapnel from piston. Scoped all cylinders to see just #6 has naughty piston. #5 plugs were tighter gap than originally set, but no damage. Heat/detonation maybe curled the outer trodes.

Have not disassembled yet.

Where did your mechanic source the engine from?!

He got it from a engine warehouse supplier, I think out of Florida if memory serves correct.

I would of preferred the built engine for sale in dallas, but a year warranty on the engine was too hard to turn down.

Would you mind sharing the cost after dust settled?
