Drivers seat squeaks when moving back

I would like to know if any one is having the same problem. When I move the seat back it makes a loud squeal sound. They replaced the lower part of the seat about six month ago. It was good till now. Back to the same problem. Another part on order.

Two thoughts...
  • WD40
  • Secure it with duct tape so you don't move the seat.
Sorry, had a silly moment when I read that... its that kinda day...

I have that kinda day every day. But WD-40 does work for a day or two then it starts all over again.

just to rule some stupid things out.

1. is the track squeaking or the seat?
2. is your seat too far back and your moving it off that wall behind you and its squeaking because it's rubbing the leather?

The noise is from the track. If the seat is forward it starts making the noise about halfway back.

Alan, I haven't looked...I'm just thinking here...Does the track have any play (can you loosen a bolt and move it in or out just a hair)...or even the rail on the seat (since you've had it replaced)??? Maybe either is just a tad out of alignment since it is obviously scraping the grease off enough to cause it to squeak. Like I said, thinking out loud.

I hope the mechanic will check all of that. After all he knows this is the second time for the same repair.
If it doesn't fix it this time I will check it all.

Hmmm...I've been noticing a problem with my seat moving back every so slightly where you rest your back. It seems the seatback has developed a very, very slight bit of slack. But the bottom seat cushin seems fine. When I first get into the car and depress the clutch, that's the most frequent time when the seat back moves.
