Suede interior A-Pillars

After working for an exotic car dealership where most of the high end cars had suede headliners and a-pillars, I decided to see what it would look like on my crossfire. The headliner material isn't bad looking, but I just didn't like the plastic pillars inside that go from the dash to the headliner. I went to Joann Fabrics and found suede fabric that matched the color of my headliner almost perfectly. I have a black coupe with black leather and light cream headliner. I removed the plastic pillars (just pulled them off). I used a strong enamel reducer to clean the plastic and then I sprayed them with a thin coat of 3M glue adhesive. After cutting the suede to the approximate size, I covered the pillars and smoothed them out. I tucked the fabric around the pillars and glued them on the inside. I popped them back on the car and WOW! what a difference. I am very happy with the look. Cost = $4.50. Much classier in my opinion. Pictures soon to come.

Great idea, maybe we can call it "new pillars for less". ;)

Seriously, good to see easy, good looking mods on a budget all can afford.

Interesting :) , I'm flying out to Florida for some gator huntin, gonna do up my dash in alligator skins, lol just kidding.

Looks good, but I think you have to finish it off all the way up to the headliner.

Yet another creative DIY concept for the Crossfire. Thanks blacklimitedcoupe. One question, though -- what would you do if you wanted to reverse the process and remove the material to restore the car to stock? Is the adhesive as easy to take off as it is to put on? Thanks.

Looks cool but do the whole headliner dude. But the Powered by Mercedes sticker has got to go. :p

Also try and use alcantara. Its a fake suede that all the car manufacturers use, its super durable more so than real suede.

Yeah, eventually I'll do the whole headliner, but I wanted to test it out on the pillars. And I like my MB emblem- sorry if you don't lol.

Nice job on the A pillar! Did they have a color match for the dash? Covering the headliner won't be easy. Good luck with that!

Re: Suede interior A-Pillars

They only had a few colors of suede at the store I went to. Luckily, one of the colors matched my headliner perfectly. I was going to try and find a color to match the dark grey/black dash but I think it looks better with the lighter color.
