Touching up console paint

I had the notorious problem of the console paint flaking off. The dealer finally replaced the console, but the piece in front of the console (which houses the radio, buttons, etc.) has some paint flaked off on each side (where the driver and passenger's knees rubbed). I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck touching up the paint to make it look a little better. The dealer was going to replace that part under warranty, but I decided not to do it because I didn't want to have to uninstall my bluetooth system and reinstall it again. It doesn't look terrible, but to me, it is enough to annoy me. I've read about people touching up the paint on the console of slk's but not the crossfire. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am sure this has been discussed before but I don't remember any answers. You can send a sample of the interior to like www.paintscratch.com and get them to make some touch up paint for you.

Re: Touching up console paint

This has been an on going problem with not only the XFire, but also the Mercedes SLK's. I have read at least one thread on the MB site about getting this paint. Go to www.benzworld.org and scroll down to R170 (that's our chassis). Do a search for console paint, touchup, etc. Good luck...

If you have no luck with the search feature, register on the site, and ask about it. I have been on the site for several months, and they welcome XFire owners.
