New owner, Hi from Toronto
Bought my Xfire in September and I've been lurking here for a few weeks now. This is a great forum and full of good advise over the years. It makes me smile to see owners all over the world with the same complaints about Chrysler. It seems that my dealer is not the only one that has absolutely no knowledge of this car either on the sales floor or in the service bays! I absolutely enjoy my 2004 white 6spd Limited but al the usual teething problems apply including a wonky 1st gear synchro that 'cannot be replicated' by the dealer. Hats off to the genius with the stereo mod. Having built home speakers myself, I understand the need for the right crossover and putting the 220-330 mf cap in line makes a ton of sense. I'll get around to it one of these days. ;-)
The number one thing I've noticed is that not everyone, not even some owners 'get' this car. It's not a hot rod, its more like a concept car that they actually built, wheels and all. The engine is a case in point. Some decry the apparently low HP rating but how many know that this 3.2l won Engine of the Year honors in 2000 and 2001, not for peak power but for design excellence and overall drivability. My last car was a Mercedes and I will tell you that the Mercedes mechanicals inside the Xfire are the only reason I bought it. I returned my C230 after 4 years and 140,000 km (90,000 miles?) and everything was tight and worked like new. I don't have faith that many Chryslers stand up as well IMHO.
Anyway this is me saying Hi and a big thanx to everyone who answered all the Xfire questions that I didn't have to ask.

Hello Arkady, and welcome from the "North Coast". It's been awhile since I last visited your beautiful city, but one thing I do remember is how "safe" we felt walking around (past midnight) on Halloween.
We own pretty much identical cars, but ours has the "cedar" interior. Just so you know, we've got 20k on it and still no problems. 1st. gear seems to operate better as the trans. warms up, and the miles add up.
Do you plan on driving yours year round? We park ours during the winter months.
Did you find a "brand new" '04, or did you buy one with some miles on it?
Enjoy the forum, I don't think that there are any questions about the Crossfire that you can't find the answers to here. Good Luck and enjoy.

Hi +fireamx,
I just had 4 winter wheels and Blizzaks put on the car for the winter. I had to end up going with 18" on all 4 corners because the winter tires for the original rims aren't available here. My wife and I bought our Xfire used with about 2000 miles on it and even though it's a 2004, it didn't go into service until about a year ago. The price was irresistible. Funny that you should mention it, but my trans seems to be getting better as I go as well. I thought the car was just training me. I've never been to Akron, but Ohio is a beautiful State and I have fond memories of a visit to Columbus some years ago.
