Default Anyone replaced their center console forward piece?

I have had the same problem as many of you with the peeling interior paint. It was mostly on my center console. The dealer replaced the center console under warranty but the part in front of the console that connects to the console and goes up through the radio to the upper air vent has started to peel. I went to the dealer today and they just happened to have it in stock so I bought it. It looks like quite a job to change. I have to remove the radio and trim, etc. The only part I'm concerned about is that there are 2 or 3 screws on each side. The ones on the drivers side are covered by the plastic piece that goes around the ignition. Has anyone removed this before?

my local dealer just replaced my upper console due to the coating peeling. i will look on my service record to get an idea of the time allotted.

that part had to be a pretty penny.

Thank you andrew...I'm looking at it in the Shop Manual and it looks like a lot of work. It listed for $140 and I bought it for $110.

Are the 2004's the only finish that peels, or does the 2005 finish peel also?

I thought the '04 had the high gloss finish and the '05 did not.

The old console that came in my car was a rubbery feeling coating. The new console looks the same but the coating isn't sticky/rubbery, it's a hard plastic...maybe they started baking the coating or something.

The date on my new part is 9-23-05 so maybe it's something new they started...again, it looks exactly the same, just doesn't feel as rubbery as the old material..it's a harder plastic feel
