Stupid MB designers
I would like to thank MB for not allowing me to own a crossfire. Why can't I own one? Because I don't fit.
Being 6'6"... My knee's bang against the steering wheel. Ohh well. Thanks for all your help guys. |
Re: Stupid MB designers
Sorry to hear that bud, but we've known that anyone over 6'1" -2" may have issues. But to be fair, it's not MB but to DC (DaimlerChrysler) that you need to address this issue.
At 6'6" I imagine you have this problem with other "sports type" cars, no? |

I believe the Solstice will accommodate a taller person than the XF will. My problem with the Solstice is the wrinkly top. Just plain pitiful! I know I have tons of leg room in my Vette also. If you are eleven feet tall buy a Vette plain and simple. |
Re: Stupid MB designers
I am 6'3" and I barely fit. I could not fit in the 350z. American cars have more room for taller people. I had no trouble with a camaro or a vette.

Re: Stupid MB designers
I think it has to do with how you recline your seat as well. I'm only 5'7" and feel like I just fit.

Re: Stupid MB designers
I'm not sure how you didn't fit being 6'6"... I'm 6'3" and I fit just fine in the Crossfire. I had PLENTY of room in my DeLoreans, and they're MUCH smaller cars.

if i were any taller... and the seat back had to be near vertical... this would not be acceptable to me personally. |
Re: Stupid MB designers
Check out a Mini Cooper S. I work with a guy who stands 7' tall and he swears it's the only car that he can fit in!

Re: Stupid MB designers
I'm 6'-5" and have plenty of leg room in my automatic roadster. Head room is tight. I have the seat all of the way down & back. My first experience was sitting in an SRT coupe with the 6 speed manual. It was brand new and sitting on the lot of my local 5-star. It didn't have enough head room for me to be comfortable and using the clutch was bad. It was a very sad experience. About six weeks later I traveled across the state to see a roadster with the automatic. I fell in love the car but decided that black was too high maintenance. Then I found my SSB on the net. Made a deposit and took a three hour trip in my brother's Sky to pick it up. I am still in love.

Re: Stupid MB designers
Went down to the Porsche dealer today, since they had an '05 SLK 55 AMG sitting there, but finally got a chance to sit in the Cayman...much more head room that the XF, but leg room was shorter. Didn't get to sit in the 55 but boy that car is hot as hell.

Re: Stupid MB designers
Who will fit is going to be a function of overall height -AND- body ratio... someone who has a long torso will be more constrained by the distance from the top of the seat cushion to the headliner. Someone with long legs will be looking for a place to stash their feet and may find (as did a 6'4" friend of mine with long legs) that there's plenty of room under the clutch and accelerator pedals!
