Not gonna take it, SOLD
I can't help it. I had to post this again. I do appreciate your decision to sell your crossfire and move on. It's not a car for everyone even after you own it for awhile. For some it just doesn't meet one's expectations or really ever fit quite right. For the rest of us it's just a pleasure to own and drive! Best of luck to you with your new ride, what ever it might be! I'm sure you will be very happy in what ever decision you make and in the mean time I'm going to take everything my Crossfire can throw at me!
I posted the comments below awhile back in a different thread... they are just some thoughts that come to mind when thinking about my decision to own one.
I bought the car because of the unique look and incredible feel while driving. I didn't buy the car because I was worried about how it was going to be serviced or by whom. Not to get into a pi$$ing match with anyone here but it's a car... a car, that over time, is going to get a character dent or two, a nick, a scratch, a smudge and a dealer experience or 2 or 3. It also (for a few) is going loose its appeal for a newer, sleeker, faster, prettier or more practical new toy. Because in reality that's what it is...a toy. I didn't buy it to take the kids and all of their friends to school or football practice or go grocery shopping or haul plywood and chain saws home from Lowe's. I bought it to drive it
I love my Crossfire. I also realize I can take some of the maintenance issues into my own hands (part of why I bought it). I also realize there are many I can't. So over time, the dealer (or someone else) will screw something up, scratch, mare, dent, smudge, spindle and mutilate some aspect of my car. In the mean time I'm going to enjoy every minute I can driving mine. That's why I bought it... to drive it, and wash it, and wax it and touch it, and smell it, and tinker with it and enjoy all of the perplexed and admiring looks I get and interesting conversations I have when I'm driving it.
I love my Crossfire. I'm going to spend my time driving my car and not worrying about all the stuff that may, can and will happen over time. I'm going to spend my time having fun with the car while it looks, feels and responds like it does now. The car is a solid build (Mercedes) and I'm pretty sure it will perform for many years to come since it's not my daily use vehicle.
We can all read till were blue in face about the reliability issues of every car on the planet today and the service problems with every one of them. Let's face it, if you buy a performance car you WILL be spending money on it (Hummm let's think boating... fun factor x maintenance = money). I'm going to drive my car because I didn't buy it for the 5 star service or the warranty or the reliability. I didn't buy it for it's fuel economy. I didn't buy it as an investment (you don't invest in a car). I bought it because I thought is was the coolest piece of metal and plastic on 4 wheels under $22,000. I bought it because it has a little (or a lot depending on who you ask) Mercedes under the skin. I bought it because it was the lovechild of a US/German partnership that was never quite at ease with itself but produced a car that isn't quite at ease sitting still. I bought it because it makes me FEEL GREAT when I'm behind the wheel driving, I bought it because it's an anomaly. I bought it because it's an individual, sparse in population but gleaming with interest, curiosity and envy. It's not a 350Z or TT or MINI or a BMW it's a Crossfire...A Chrysler...Crossfire!
I've owned a good number of sports cars in my life and all I can say is I love my Crossfire! I just go into my garage and think..Damn that's a cool car! It's my favorite toy and my wife gets a lot of enjoyment from driving it as well, which makes it even easier to own! I may trade it, sell it, wreck it or give it to my kids someday, but what I know I will be doing with it now, is driving it! As with the other great cars I've owned (Z's, VW's, BMW's) this one will leave me with memories and thrills that no other car will be able to replicate and thats what makes it so fun for me to own a Chrysler Crossfire.

Boy I hope this trend keeps going and the price of the Crossfire continues to plummet so that they end up in the hands of high school kids so that in a few years most of them will end up rusting away in salvage yards pastures. Now all we need is Cerber to kill the Crossfire for 2008 and then for those of us who have kept our cars and didn't become disillusioned will once again enjoy the exclusivity we had back in 2004.
I like to tell people the Corvette didn't sell all that well the first few years it came out either, give us time. Everyone will see what it really is soon enough.
Only problem is 13dog they kept makin' vettes, the Crossfire is done. I guess some people got lemons, it happens unfortunately. Or you buy something with high expectations. It only takes me a trip to our local Cruise In on Sunday mornings. Probably about 100-150 cars. yesterday there musta been 20 vettes. There were two Crossfires, mine and Senna's. The vettes are a dime a dozen, same thing with the mustangs. Don't get me wrong they are nice cars (my vette was a lemon) but they are not as unique as the Crossfire. We weren't really parked in the main pack of cars yet I noticed people were checking out our cars, this in a field of hot rods, a Ferrari and a Ford GT.
I love my car, I can't wait to own it next summer and there isn't one day I regret the purchase. I'm sorry the original poster wasn't happy with his choice, good luck with your new car.

Ok, I liked the car but I think for a Mercedes it was not very good quality, by the way I can afford Premium, not an issue, but for the performance I think it is a waste. For me it was a high maintenance car, I think it is a "Hobby Car" this is fine if that is what you want. I guess I did for a few years and it got old. Even the head light covers start to smoke up, this happens after about 12,000 miles give or take.
Look the car is great for those who enjoy automobiles as a hobby. I use it everyday and I did not want to invest into a winter car. With Pilots it was bad on the road with snow.
I bought a pick up Truck, A Colorado 4X4 with their Hummer 3.7 liter 242 HP engine (5 cylinders). This is nothing special just more practical. It also is fun to drive.
Yes I will miss the Crossfire and I have defended it many times, it just became not the right type of vehicle for my life style.
Oh,
Here was a few other things that got to me the seat heaters, junk, even after fixing they fail.
I sold it for $18,500 it was a Limited 2005 coupe. I would say out of all the cars I owned it lost the most value in the shortest period of time.
Look I had a lot of reasons to sell, and there will be others, but there will also be those who will cherish it for years to come.
Don't take any of this personally I guess I was venting, but this was my experience and my decision. If you don't like my comments that's OK.
Just say see Ya!

Funny...I drive in Michigan...haven't had many problems in the snow. Granted I'm not gonna try to plow through 2 feet of the stuff! As far as investment... Who the hell buys a car as a investment, AND DRIVES IT!!!
BTW...a 1970 hemi cuda could be bought for next to nothing in the 80's...Try to buy one now!!!

Let's see, things not to like about the Crossfire - especially my SRT6:
1. Only seats two.
2. It's too damn fast.
3. I paid way too little compared to the alternatives.
4. I much prefer engines that go ne-ne-ne-putt-putt-putt.
5. Not available in lime green.
6. I hate when the ladies want to go for a ride.
7. AMG is crap!
8. The brakes stop you way too quickly.
9. The subwoofers hurt my ears
And the number 10 reason
10. They don't make a hybrid version. My internet creator friend, Al Gore, will be pissed off!

$120 for an oil change...get a friggin oil pan, socket wrench, and do it yourself...jeeeze, nobody changes the oil, does tune ups, washes, waxes or pretty much anything else to any of my cars (currently own 7 plus one bike) unless its major or recall work. If I paid $120 bucks for oil changes I would only own 1.
