Xfire Fan,

I bought it out of San Jose, California. It was a dealership that had closed and couldn't get rid of it. I was a bit skeptical but all seems well. We will see if it shows up on the truck or not.

Just to maintain accurate info, there are 2 franchised Chrysler dealerships owned by CarMax, Atlanta and Inglewood, CA (formerly a third in Orlando but no longer CarMax).

I've purchase 3 CarMax warranties before and never had any problems at any dealership - however, I'd much rather have a factory-backed extended warranty if coverages are comparable.

Tod, PM coming for a quote...

Being in Canada, not sure if the extended warranties can cross the ditch. We'll give it a try.

As for Canadian cars, I can't sell extended plans. If anyone lives in Canada and has a Canada car, you will need to purchase the Chrysler Service contract from a dealer in Canada. However if you live in the US with a US car, and happen to drive into Canada and have a problem, the MaxCare contract will be honored in Canada.
Thanks again to all who I've talked to in the last month about the extended service contracts. I will continue to get out quotes as quick as as I can. Also if you own an '04 or '05 Non SRT, I can also transfer the 7/70 powertrain for you for the flat fee of $150 if it wasn't already done for you. The transfer fee is also tax free.

Thanks again,
Tod

I wish that I would have checked here first. I purchased the Lifetime version of this warranty and I am ashamed to say just how much it cost me. I guess the dealer was trying to make up for the low price that I paid for my '06 Limited Coupe.

Thanks for the help Tod. I got a quote of $1,800 for the 7/70 bumper to bumper. The wife is balking at it but I think it's not a bad deal.

Tod,

I just purchased a 2005 convertible with 15K miles. Do I contact you for the warranty? Also, I live in Las Vegas. Went over to Jim Marsh, and the sales guy said they never heard of the Crossfire? Does anyone know if there's a certified mechanic in LV?

Ok, I've had a bunch of people ask me over the last week about their car's coverage, if it had rental, and what it would cost for an extended warranty. I've also learned that you can't purchase a Service contract directly from Chrysler. The service contracts on line are websites made by dealers. I don't want to take anything away from them, and I would tell anyone to purchase a Chrysler warranty instead of a 3rd party warranty.

The main service contract we sell is the Maximum Care plan. As long as your car is under 48,000 miles and within 48 months from the in-service date, it is eligible for this coverage. It extends the 3/36 bumper to bumper to a 7 yr/70,000 miles.
This includes: All Electrical Systems, All Engine Computers, Shocks, Torsion Bars, Engine Mounts, All Seat, Hood, Deck Lid, Convertible Tops, Window Mechanisms, Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Steering, Air Conditioning, Engine Cooling and Fuel Systems, Front and Rear Suspension, Anti-Lock Brakes. I'm sure you get the picture.
Its easier to tell you that it doesn't cover: Maintenance, Oil Changes, Glass, Plastic Lenses (Fogged Headlights) Paint and Soft Trim, Brake Pads and Rotors, Belts. There are up to 5007 Mechanical Components that are covered.
This plan is also Transferable to the next owner for $50. You can chose your deductible of $100, $50, or $0.00. And you can also have the entire amount refunded back to you from Chrysler if the time (7 yrs) expires and it hasn't been used.
I have been able to quote people a savings of around $600 - $900 off of Chryslers retail price. We are doing this on a cost + basis. However, there is not a clear cut price. It all depends on what coverage is on your car now. Year, Miles, Certified, SRT-6, these factors all play a role. I'll be glad to give anyone a quote, I just need your last 8 VIN# and current miles. The average price I've seen so far (w/ $100 Deductible) has been $2,100 - $2,500 Retail, and we have been between $1,500 - $1,700.

Hey Guys,
I've been getting a little heat from some members about prices, and I think its struck a nerve. I've given out close to 50 quotes in the past 6 weeks and several of you have purchased plans, thank you, others want to wait till after the hollidays, some just don't. No big deal here at all, and again, I'm glad to help. I'm just going to put this out there, as I just explained this to someone I was quoting earlier.

I'm not in this for the money, I really am using my position to help out the fellow Crossfire members. I'm getting 5-10 PM's a day from members. The sad part is that the longer this goes on, the more and more I'm learning that more and more dealers have no clue. I'll break this down for you.

All of the Extended Service Contracts I'm selling are $300 over Dealer Cost. I also worked this out with upper management to pass this offer along to Forum members. The Profit goes into my reserve F+I (Finance and Insurance) fund that I get paid on at the end of the month. I get 10% of that total. Bottom line, I'm putting $30 dollars in my pocket for every extended warranty I sell.

Sorry to rant, just felt the need to get this off my chest.

Thanks again,
Tod

Tod, your help & guidence is much appreciated.
As for some of the heat you have/will get... p*ss on 'em.
Use your position and make a buck. There is no reason not too since it is obvious (to me) that is not your focus here.

Tod,

Sorry you are getting grief. You've run a couple of scenarios for me. Thanks.

Very few of your critics work for free - I mean at their job. Most of us know you and the dealer need to make something to stay in business. The fact is that you are providing a real resource and a real service at a really fair price and profit.

Tod, I have a couple of quick questions...

First, I see a lot of talk here about a 7/70,000 MaxCare warranty. Why is it that mine is a 6/70,000 warranty? I don't recall the dealer offering a 7/70 when I bought my new '05 XF in October of 2005. I paid $1340 which seems reasonable after reading this thread.

Second, you mentioned that you can get a refund of the full amount IF the MaxCare warranty was never actually used. I just read through my paperwork and see nothing about this. What I do see is the option of a pro-rated refund based on time left, or mileage left (whichever is less). Are you sure about being able to get a FULL REFUND?

Don

I guess that answers why there is no mention of the refund in my paperwork. Thanks CG.

The refund also goes back to how the Service contract is set up. There are several different ways to get the same coverage. On a 7/70, you can go with or with out the buy back program, and also depending on deductibles, prices can vary quite a bit.

Tod,

I am thinking about purchasing a 2006 Limited Roadster with only 8000 miles on it. However, it was originally purchased by a rental car company in April 2007. it is now for sale at a GM dealership near me.

Can I get the max care plan on it? If so, what would it cost me with a $50 dedcutible?
