Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

I drove my crossfire 300 miles yesterday and got an astonishing 30.3 mpg. 95 % highway at about 75-80 mph and one traffic jam of about fifteen minutes of stop and go.
2004 Limited, k&n filters, no muffler, traction control disabled.

Very hard to believe at those speeds. The best I've done at 65 mph is 24. At your speed I get 21. But mine is stock.

I havea 6-speed with K&N's and I've gotten over 30 on a tank of gas before.

29.8, all highway drive from Dallas to Austin in the rain. 60mph the whole time (cause of the rain). Usually I get like 24, but this tank I'm on now I am getting about 18 (too much fun breaking in new tires).

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

I have owned my car for about 2400 miles, now have 11,400 on the odometer.

Mine is a Limited with automatic.

I consistently get 21 MPG around town mixed driving while having fun.

On the interstate I get at least 28 MPG with up to 30 MPG if I keep my foot out the fun zone.

The MPG is one of the little nice suprises about this car to me!

2004 41000 miles k/n filters constantly get 26 in Dallas...got 27.5 the other day but must have spent alot of time at or around 65-69 miles an hour to get that..one hell of a car!!!!

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

Before the filters and muffler removal I was getting 25-26 mpg on the highway tops.

Just filled up this morning. 297 miles on 11.4 gals...about 60% city 40% highway=26 mpg

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

My roadster consistently returns 26-27 mpg at 70-80 mph and 28-30 mpg at 55-60. I, too, have hit over 30 a couple times after very conservative drives. Recorded in a log book for over 26,000 miles and three summers. I suspect mileage would be worse in the winter, but she spends those under a blanket in the garage. I'll be adding the K&N filters when I put her on the road in a couple weeks, but I don't expect much difference.

By comparison, the SRT6 only returned 22-23 mpg on a 360 mile round trip to Detroit at 70-75 mph last week. Same engine, but the supercharger processes the fuel even when not under hard acceleration and it's a 5-speed automatic.

The problem is that almost every trip, I accidentally run them up to 100-120 (or faster) for a brief period due to lack of self control. It's just too much fun to hit the go-fast button.

Wow.. I am surprised at the numbers you guys are posting. My roadster has 1077 miles on it right now and I have been averageing about 17mpg.. But I do have ltos of fun when I am behind the wheel though

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

I've only filled my XFire up once so far and checked the mileage. I averaged 24 mpg driving mostly around town, and yes, I did accelerate rapidly on several occasions. I sincerely believe 30 mpg is obtainable on the highway if you keep your foot from constantly going to the floor when accelerating. Of my three vehicles, this is the only "economy" car. I love it!

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

The best was 35 mpg on a trip from Austin to southern Oklahoma and that was at an average speed of 75 and on several trips to Dallas I got 32 mpg
but the normal average around town is 26 - 28 and hwy is about 30, both depend on foot fun and if that happens mpg turns to .... not that good.
My MPG actually increased quite a bit after my ecu tune.

How are you guys getting such exact mpg numbers? Is there a place on the gauges where I can see how much my mpg is?

mileage/gallons.... zero out the odometer run it from full to empty... whatever teh mileage says, divide that number by the number of galls to fill up the tank... and magically you now have miles per gallon....

I was just thinking there might be a gauge or something like in my mom's bmw where it tells the mpg.

thanks!

Yea, lots of cars have that feature, don't know why our cars don't.

Mine get maybe 24.5 MPG max, maybe 80% freeway. on average I get 23.5

I just checked mine and it came out to 29.8 for the last tank. Thats for combined city/highway.

I don't understand, I'm kinda new to it. But why do they say you get less mileage in the city than the highway, if you're traveling the same distance? More stopping and going? What would it matter?

On all vehicles you pretty much get less MPG in the city than the highway due to the stop and go of city driving.

I got 27MPG on my last tank and that was still with a heavy foot and mixed city/hwy driving.

Re: Best Gas mileage you've gotten?

Since 99% of our driving is highway or interstate our mileage is pretty consistent. I usually get 29 mpg when I drive and my wife gets 32-33 mpg when she drives. She drives within the speed limit and not too much passing; me on the other hand I will usually follow a rabbit and stay a 1/4 mi behind and that involves doing a lot of passing.
