Wink The Neon & Civic Syndrome

Is it just me or do Dodge Neon and Honda Civic owners have some sort of syndrome that overtakes their judgement and forces them to engage in "trying" to outrun me?? I mean I know my Xfire isn't THE fastest car in the world but really, are they serious? I mean the car doesn't exactly look like a "sleeper". It looks FAST! Or is it that most people don't even know what an Xfire is? If I had a penny for everytime I have been asked, "What is that?" LOL So does anyone else encounter these mentally challenged people?

I was on the highway coming home and there was a honda civic dx hatchback with a fartcanister muffler that was trying to race. After messing with him for about 5 mind and leaving him wanted i moved to the side and let my friend with an 03' cobra bull up next to him. His car has about 420 wheel hp and an insane supercharger whine. the civic gave up and moved to the slow lane and wouldnt look at either of us. It is funny how they will concede to something that is known for its insane power but when something that can easily outrun them but not so well known is there they get a bit of envy and pride.

I don't know where you're located, but I'll run you in my "neon" any day you'd like!

I have held back now for a long time, but I got to ask the question. Maybe someone can answer .

<sarcasm>
What I do not not understand is the hosing down the freeway with testosterone and then comparing the length of your extended man hood. It's a car for pete's sake. Nothing more than a car, And if you are faster then that proves exactly what?

I drive a X-fire because I like to drive a car that looks kewl and because it is fun to drive.

I have read a number of posts now: "smoked this car", "been faster than that one". Yesterday I was faster than everybody else in their car when I climbed into that jet. What does that prove?
</sarcasm>

LOL.

Never had a Neon bother me, but I know what you mean about the "Ricers" (even though the Civics are built just a couple hours away from me here in Ohio).
As I've said before, I think our "Wing" attracts them more than anything. It's like waving a cape in front of a bull.
Since I've installed a "on/off" switch to my wing, I can keep it from coming up at highway speeds, and I've noticed a marked decrease in 4 wheeled Asian "pests" ever since.

If done like most boyracers it proves you're a typical testosterone soaked meat sack with more gas money than brains.

If done tastefully (a controlled display of extrodinary power) it is impressive and something to be respected/commended. So unless you have a unique sleeper or a high dollar supercar... you might as well give up on impressing anybody.

Sorry I don't care how fast your neon, civic, or insert other crap box here. Its still a neon.

No offense. When I pick up my girl and we go to the casino or on long trips out of state we'd much rather be in a sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow crossfire, than a 12 second NEON. LOL

Maybe I'll get a milk crate, drop a motor cycle engine on it and be faster than everybody. Yeah, I look better than you and I'm riding in style but damn that milk crate is fast.

Yeah, I'd be real careful around Neons, especially the ones with the slightly tallish rear wing and the little SRT4 badges on the back. Yep, just as there's an SRT Crossfire, there was an SRT version of the Neon. And you can get mad power out of them with very little work.

And don't dis someone just because they're driving a Neon - although most SRT4 owners never use the name Neon and I believe Dodge dropped than name altogether from the car. As in: Crossfire SRT6, Charger SRT8, Viper SRT10, SRT4 (as opposed to Neon SRT4, technically speaking)

I've seen streetable SRT4s than can run high 10 second 1/4 miles. The PT Cruiser GT uses the same engine and I know guys running high 11 second 1/4 miles in daily driven PTs! Hell, my own PT Turbo is faster in the 1/4 mile than my Crossfire.

And much like the retards racing a civic dx with a fart can... Anybody who can't respect a 400hp neon based on it's economy car platform is just butt hurt.

I make it a point to respect true skill and knowledge. Even if the end result isn't something you would drive.

I do enjoy matching whits with stupid people even if their faster, because afterwards i still look good in a crossfire whereas if driving i feel like i should be 16.I dont doubt that a an srt4 or a neon with some wrench time could be faster but when someone with 93 civic dx which has 70 stock hp and a fart canister which might bring it to 70.2 hp tries to run against someone with a 215 hp car it is just pathetic and dosent even warrent a response most times. I also have to say that i would much rather drive a nice crossfire that a loud stripped down car just to be faster. Faster does not mean better.

The point I was trying to make here is that there is some sort of "attraction" that these smaller and slower cars have to my Xfire. I am also not referring to the quote "faster" Neons or Civics. I am always bombarded by people in base model Neons, Civics, Scions,etc...what I mean is that I guess the Xfire is a car that everyone wants to TRY and out perform just because they are jealous of it's dang good looks! By the way I am not a testosterone soaked meatsack, I am a married WOMAN that has no desire to even honor these "punks" with the pleasure of seeing my taillights when I pass them by like a sitting duck. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks for all your responses....

I know what you mean.

Here I get the Celica GT's (w/drivers in their twenties) and Accords (driven by thirty-sometings).
A couple of weeks ago I was pulling away from a light at moderate accel, and looked over to see an Accord racing me; guess he thought I was racing him, too.
Today, I was on a five line road, and passed a Dodge van on the right that was doing 30 in a 45mph zone, and accelerated to 55. He then proceeded to gun it, and stay tight on my as$. I slowed to let him pass, but he stuck there until I got to work about a mile later. Funny thing is that this van was from a local human services organization - go figure.

I have to say it's about 40/40/10 out here...

First 40%... some of the 'ricers' as they are commonly known seem to want to try and pass my SRT6 to prove something... other times it's business men in bimmers (compensation for something or out to prove something, I guess)

The latter 40% are people in pretty powerful sports cars that have run with me for fun on the freeway when it's pretty empty... even had a couple of fast bikes run with me for a while... nice people... always wave at each other before departing. Both parties acknowledge the other and the fun that was enjoyed.

The last 10% have been people in a large assortment of vehicles that simply roll down the window and give me a thumb's up or wave. That's kinda nice too... lots of commercial vehicles, so I figure the people driving have something fun at home too...

I don't race... but it's fun to get up to the speed limit kinda quick sometimes and watch the jaws drop...

Cheers!

Mike I wasn't dissing people because they drive neons. I was dissing the neon. I don't care what anybody drives. But its still just a fast neon. Hence my milk crate analogy. And the Xfire takes its fair share of abuse but nobody ever says "hey, don't make fun of people for driving Xfires" LOL only we say that.

I can't believe that anyone on here would diss a neon while driving a poor man's mercedes. I feel that I am more than qualified to make that statement as I own the SRT versions of both of them.

I do find it amusing though how my completely playful statement has initiated such passionate dialog. I wouldn't trade my neon or my crossfire for anything else, they're both a blast to drive for different reasons and good looking cars in they're own unique ways.

Sorry, I don't intend to match "whits" with anyone on here as I feel that some of the parties involved may have an unfair advantage.
