I got PUNK'D

I bought my XFire in late April and everybody at work--I manage a gym/health club--knows my car and comments on it. I always park it at the far end of the lot where it's protected on one side and the rear by a wide wrap around curb. One Thursday night when I was working the late shift and closing up the club at 11 pm, two brothers decided to have some fun with me. They left about an hour before closing and moved a shopping cart to about 1/8" away from my driver's side door, making sure it never touched the car. Then, they went to Taco Bell and got enough food to manage their post-workout hunger, sitting in their Jeep about 100 feet away in the Target lot, waiting for me to come out of the gym.

I lock the door to the gym, turn and see a f*&^#@g red shopping cart up against my car. I was later told I was "storming" toward the car and when I got there, I was down on my hands and knees with my face an inch from the car looking for damage. Then I hear this loud, riotous shrieking laughter across the lot as I one-arm toss the cart over into the curb and landing it upside down on the mulched barrier. Looking across the lot, I see the telltale Yellow Jeep Wrangler and two shadowy figures stuffing their burrito cheeks in between hyena laughs. My rage transformed into embarrassed laughter myself as I gave them both the finger and laughed all the way home at the best punk'd effort anybody has played me for.

I'm glad these guys are my friends and not my enemies. Their imitation of my stalking walk to the car is pretty priceless the first hundred times I've had to endure it...

I can't say they weren't provoked--I reached into their wide open Jeep and tied their lifting wrist straps to the roll bar and never said a word, but they knew it was me when the straps were tied oddly twice more after they had mentioned their experience to me.

The little amount of fun we get at work...as long as the XF stays unmarked its all fun and games. I laughed half way home that night.

Sounds like good friends. I would have stormed over too! Great that you can make work fun.

About 20 years ago, I was working at a hospital in Waco, TX. We had recently gotten a shipment of lamps for some of the public areas, and one afternoon I went out to get in my pumpkin-orange MGB, only to find it full of styrofoam packing peanuts, to the tops of the doors. The facilities guys who pulled the prank helped me bag 'em all up, though.

I'm not so sure I could laugh right away but you were a good sport.
It might have been the next day before I could laugh about it.

I enjoyed the read here as you worded it so anyone could relive the moment.

My favorite line is:
I see the telltale Yellow Jeep Wrangler and two shadowy figures stuffing their burrito cheeks in between hyena laughs.

Thanks for the smile
