lowest build number for an 08
Just wondering how close my o7 came to being an 08 with a build number of 74199. I saw an o8 on ebay with a build number of 74264 and that aroused my curiosity.
2004 4X000014 * - 4X025453 **
2005 5X025454 ***- 5X061056
2006 6X061057 - 6X069949
2007 7X069950 - 7X074262
2008 8X074263 - 8X076047
* In the early part of the 2004 production run there were numerous skipped VINs (1-13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21). I assume those VINs were used in test vehicles or were reserved for other purposes.
** I believe to be the highest 2004 VIN (see note below).
*** Though it looks like the coupe switchover to the 2005 model formally begins at 25454, there are actually a few 2005 Crossfire roadsters and SRTs with lower VINs. For example, 5X025366 is an SRT and 5X025367 is a roadster. Maybe they were units pulled off the coupe assembly line to creat the first roadsters and SRTs.

I work for an OEM and I can confirm that you are most likely correct regarding the first 2005 Roadster and SRT having lower numbers. We do it all the time.
Thanks again.
I learned from Ross at Grapevine CJD that the Crossfire I have on order from him has a build number of 8X074674. When I called this in to my insurance company they told me it was a 2008 Chrysler Crossfire. It better be as that is what I am buying!! Yet I can't find the date of build in our forum using those numbers.
Can someone set me straight?
I'll be known as Cheaper Ride this time--even with the shipping charge. This Oyster Gold metallic clearcoat, with Nav system and automatic cost me $2290 less than my first Crossfire that I bought locally. It will cost me $749 to transport it to Nampa but still a heck of a deal.
Thanks, Jim

First, if your insurance company shows it to be a 2008, it is a 2008. All new cars are held in a mysterious central data base that financial institutions can look up.
Second, my car, also from Grapevine, is #74915 manufactured in Oct, 2007. It is a genuine 2008.
Third, you VIN falls in the 2008 range.
Fourth, Be Happy

All 2008's were built in 2007, the last one rolled off the line on December 17, 2007
